Videoframe Spot Signal Monitoring VNODES are put to the test

Both Thomson/Grass Valley and Leitch used Videoframe's SDI and GPI VNODES during NAB2003.

There are six different models of the Videoframe VNODE. Each one measures 5" x 3" x 1" and includes circuitry to monitor one or more signals, relays for GPI alarm outputs, GPI inputs, and a microprocessor with 100Base-T Ethernet communication capability.

A VNODE is a self-contained small-scale signal monitoring system. There are six different models. Each one measures 5" x 3" x 1" and includes circuitry to monitor one or more signals, relays for GPI alarm outputs, GPI inputs, and a microprocessor with 100Base-T Ethernet communication capability. A VNODE can report signal defects to the VTECS Enterprise Monitoring Software. VNODES can report defects to an SNMP manager, or respond to defects by setting its own GPI relays. The unit can be configured by using either the Windows based Videoframe Configuration Application, or by using a VTECS 1 Control Panel.

Leitch also demonstrated its PILOT product using Videoframe's VTECS Monitor Application with SDI and GPI VNODES. The VTECS Signal Monitoring System is based on a three-tier architecture. The Enterprise tier, or first tier, is the VTECS Enterprise Monitoring Software, a Windows based computer program that connects to devices on tiers two and three. The software draws together signal monitoring input from these devices and displays monitoring input and logs events as they occur. It features a modular tier, a VNODE tier, event logging, flexible configuration, high-speed data connection and SNMP monitoring.

Thomson/Grass Valley used the SDI and GPI VNODES along with Videoframe's VTECS Monitor Application Software to integrate with NET CENTRAL.
