Trilogy to supply Mercury VoIP to Hearst-Argyle Television

Trilogy Broadcast has won a contract to supply Mercury VoIP communications equipment to Hearst-Argyle Television.

Providing the infrastructure for flexible and powerful intercom style WAN communications across their enterprise, the Mercury VoIP system initially will supply user interfaces at the assignment desks of 24 TV stations and the Washington, D.C. news bureau. Trilogy's U.S.-based Trilogy BSE concluded the deal.

Allowing news personnel to coordinate events instantly between every site across the United States, the installation will also provide connection between the existing production intercom systems at all Hearst-Argyle sites. This allows the company to extend its current intercom reach to configure local, regional and national users with mixed groups regardless of their physical location.

Later this year, the system will be enhanced to allow all sites to feed their local production IFBs into the Mercury system. Using the Mercury telephone interfaces will let any field reporter call into the system from a mobile phone or landline and give them automatic selection of any of the 25 IFBs from telephone DTMF dial pads without operator assistance.
