Thomson Grass Valley HD equipment at the heart of five new trucks for FOX NFL season coverage

Answering the challenge posed by FOX Sports to broadcast up to six NFL games per week in HD beginning this fall, three mobile production companies have committed to building five all-HD broadcast trucks and equipping them with more than $10.1 million worth of Grass Valley brand HD production equipment from Thomson.

The new trucks —being built by F&F Productions, National Mobile Television and NEP Supershooters — will be ready for the fall “NFL on FOX” 2004-05 football season, culminating in the broadcast of the NFC Championship Game and Super Bowl XXXIX.

Scheduled to hit the road in the summer, F&F Productions, located in St. Petersburg, Fl, will build two new 52-foot HD trucks, based on two Kalypso HD switchers with HD Grass Valley GVeous digital effects units, a Trinix and a Concerto router, and dozens of Kameleon modular products.

New York-based National Mobile Television (NMT) is building two new 50-foot HD trucks and equipping each with 10 Thomson Grass Valley LDK 6000 mk II WorldCam HD cameras, a Kalypso HD switcher and a Trinix router. With this new agreement, NMT will now operate three HD trucks based around Thomson Grass Valley equipment, including employing 43 LDK 6000 cameras.

NEP Supershooters, in Pittsburgh, PA will add one HD truck to its fleet by the fall. The truck will include 12 Thomson Grass Valley LDK 6000 mk II WorldCam HD cameras, a Kalypso HD switcher and a Trinix HD router. NEP operates three other HD trucks outfitted with Grass Valley digital HD production gear.
