Survey finds misunderstanding, confusion about HD among U.K. viewers

U.S. consumers aren’t the only ones confused about HDTV, according to a survey of television viewers in the U.K.

Survey results released last month by uSwitch.com show that although 2.6 million households plan to upgrade to HDTV, many are confused about what it will cost and what they need.

Fewer than 25 percent had a handle on what the switch to HDTV would cost, and 20 percent didn’t understand that a new TV was needed to enjoy high-definition viewing.

According the uSwitch.com survey, 18 percent thought they could make the HD transition for $188 or less, while the true cost will be more than four times that.
