Sony commands a lot of exhibit real estate at its customary position near the entrance to the upper level of the LVCC South Hall this week, and some of its new and upgraded HD products on display will take center stage soon in one of the largest “sports arenas” in America—ESPN HD, and the sports network’s new mega-entertainment center coming to Los Angeles.
The ESPN studios that will be located inside “L.A. Live,” a 4-million-square-foot entertainment center that Sony said will include three of its MVS-8000G production switchers and nearly a dozen HDC-1500 studio-fixed cameras. Sony also will supply the HD LCD monitors. Meanwhile, in Burbank, near the future home of “L.A. Live,” Sony’s HDC-1500 cameras—on display at the NAB Show this week—will also be deployed for the syndicated weekday show hosted by Ellen DeGeneres.
Also, following the adoption of Blu-ray Disc over HD DVD earlier this year, Sony’s Creative Software division unveiled upgrades at the NAB Show to its DVD Architect and “Blu-print” applications for authoring Blu-ray discs.
Its DVD Architect 5 software on display in Las Vegas was designed to enable independent producers and videographers to work within Blu-ray compatibilities—to include full-motion buttons, motion menus, scene selection menus, subtitles and alternate video and audio tracks. A drag-and-drop DVD Architect interface, layout and other authoring tools are geared to work in tandem, when needed, with Sony’s Vegas Pro video editing and production software.
