Malaysian Energy, Water, and Communications Minister Datuk Seri Dr Lim Keng Yaik said 3.5 GHz links used by wireless broadband service providers are interfering with Measat-2, which uses "extended" C-band downlinks in the same band. Dr. Lim asked the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission to be more vigilant in giving out broadband wireless frequencies. He said he was considering "pulling back the licenses."
RF Report previously covered interference from broadband wireless links to C-band satellite reception. The Asia-Pacific Satellite Communications Council said satellite operations in Australia, Bolivia, Fiji, Hong Kong, Pakistan and Indonesia have been affected by interference.
