DTV Now Available on Sprint Cell Phones
As you may have noticed from previous RF Reports, DTV tuners in cellphones are starting to appear in Asia. Last week, Sprint PCS-Vision customers in the U.S. gained access to digital TV on their handsets. The DTV broadcasts, however are not coming from terrestrial DTV but from real-time streaming video over Sprint's nationwide data network. The service, provided by MobiTV, provides several TV channels, including MSNBC, CNBC, Discovery Channel, The Learning Channel, Discovery Kids and Toonworld TV Classics.
The service costs $9.99 per month, in addition to the $15 per month fee for Sprint's PCS-Vision. More information is available in the Idetic press release Watch Live TV Content on Your Mobile Phone. Idetic, Inc., is the developer and operator of MobiTV.
