VOD system provider Concurrent Computer Corp. has expanded its offerings with the launch of the Personal TV (pTV) Solution, a spectrum of integrated, end-to-end iTV applications.
Concurrent is building on its VOD and subscription VOD foundation with the new services, and is working on a variety of pTV technologies, including a Personal Video Channel (pVC) and targeted and interactive advertising. pVC gives viewers on-demand access to TV programming with VCR functionality. pVC is enabled by Concurrent's MediaHawk, which records television events onto the network-based VOD system and gives subscribers immediate access through digital set-top boxes.
The company hopes to offer "everything-on-demand" in the future, allowing subscribers to watch anything at their convenience, while creating more revenue opportunities through targeted advertising and other methods.
