The AK-HC900 offers a 720-line progressive HD output and multiple frame rate capabilities.
To capture on-air talent, crowd reactions and wide-angle field shots for the high-definition broadcast of the Super Bowl, ABC used Panasonic’s compact AK-HC900 high- definition box-type cameras.
The 3.9-pound cameras — mounted on robotic pan/tilt systems — were located in the announcers’ booth and in the “slash” position in the corner of an end zone to provide widescreen HD images. The end zone camera captured on-field, billboard, bumper and isolation shots for the telecast.
The AK-HC900 offers a 720-line progressive HD output and multiple frame rate capabilities, including 60 and 24-frames per second. The camera employs three 2/3” 1 million-pixel (1280 x 720) IT CCDs with 38-bit internal processing designed to dramatically improve dark and highlight image quality. Its horizontal single-read CCDs and spatial-offset processing reduces moiré while assuring high resolution.
