WirelessHD, an industry effort to define a wireless digital network interface for HD consumer products, has completed the development of a wireless specification for HD baseband video transmission.
The collaborative industry group, which includes Intel, LG Electronics, Matsushita Electric (Panasonic), NEC, Samsung Electronics, SiBEAM, Sony and Toshiba, has the goal of advancing the WirelessHD (WiHD) interface in the unlicensed 60GHz frequency band.
The WiHD 1.0 specification is suitable for a wide range of devices including televisions, HD disc players, set-top boxes, camcorders, gaming consoles, adapter products as well as other source devices. The WiHD specification supports a 4Gb/s high-speed wireless digital interface and secure content protection technology.
