SCTE Live Learning to address IPTV

The Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers (SCTE) will present “Should Cable Move to IPTV via Video over DOCSIS?” as the next installment of its SCTE Live Learning series.

The seminar will focus on a variety of questions surrounding the technology, such as:

  • “Is IPTV a better architecture for cable — why or why not?”
  • “What are the capabilities it opens up?”
  • “What limitations would it impose?”
  • “What technologies would be needed to make it happen?”

SCTE Live Learning, sponsored by Cisco Systems, Fujitsu, Motorola, and Scientific-Atlanta, is a series of live, interactive, Web-based seminars offered the third Wednesday of every month (except in June).

The events are free for SCTE members and $29 per seminar for nonmembers. Registration is required and seats are limited. Archived recordings are available to SCTE members only, and at no cost.

The format of the November presentation will differ from previous SCTE Live Learning sessions. Three speakers will look at the questions from their individual viewpoints and then engage in a panel discussion, followed by questions from the participants.
