Cox Television to go tapeless with conversion to P2 solid-state acquisition

Cox Television will replace its existing BetaSP newsgathering equipment at 15 television stations throughout the United States with the Panasonic DVCPRO P2 solid-state recording system.
Initially, seven Cox stations will be outfitted with DVCPRO P2 products this year. They include:
- KTVU-TV, San Francisco
- KIRO-TV, Seattle
- KFOX-TV, El Paso, TX
- WPXI-TV, Pittsburgh
- WSOC-TV, Charlotte, NC
- WFTV-TV, Orlando, FL;
- WHIO-TV, Dayton, OH
More than 130 pieces of DVCPRO P2 equipment, including AJ-SPX800 camcorders, AJ-PCD10 drives, AJ-SPD850 studio editing recorders and more than 360 P2 cards, are part of the conversion.
