Vail Resorts plays out from Omneon

TV8/TV17, a division of Vail Resorts, the mountain resort operator in the United States, has deployed an Omneon Spectrum media server system for storage and playout at its newly completed digital broadcast facility. TV8/TV17, both licensed LPTV stations, completed the project with the assistance of systems integrator Beck Associates, which integrated the new server system with NVerzion automation to enable reliable and straightforward program playout via a user-friendly interface.

TV8 and TV17 are affiliates of RSN, the resort television network, and the two channels are broadcast from East Vail, CO, to Gypsum, CO. The high cost of real estate in Vail necessitated a combination master control room, central equipment room, and production control room, and Beck Associates packed it all into less than 350sq ft.

In building this new infrastructure for program playout, the station integrated an Omneon server system to provide reliable playout of both channels and ensure uninterrupted delivery of programming.
