Sound Devices adds to engineering staff
By TVTechnology published
Sound Devices, the Wisconsin-based maker of portable audio mixers and digital recorders, had added electrical engineer Dave Cerra to its staff. Cerra comes to Sound Devices from Shure, where he was most recently manager of audio engineering.
Cerra holds bachelor’s degrees in Recording Technology from DePaul University and in Electrical Engineering from the University of Illinois-Chicago. He also holds a master’s degree in Digital Signal Processing from Northwestern University. Notable among his many accomplishments at Shure was Cerra’s authoring of the firm’s patent on audio reference companding technology for wireless systems. Sound Devices co-founder and engineer Matt Anderson explained the move as an example of the firm’s commitment to strengthening and extending what it calls its warehouse of technology.
