RCTV goes live with broadcast environment from Avid
By TVTechnology published
Radio Caracas Television (RCTV) in Venezuela has purchased and installed more than a $1 million worth of end-to-end digital newsroom solutions for editing, sharing, storing and managing media from Avid.
The initial purchase, which took place last March, was part of RCTV's plan to build a new facility for producing news in an all-digital production environment. RCTV went live last July with the new environment.
In constructing its new production facility, the station upgraded its older Newstar systems to the Avid iNEWS newsroom automation solution with the iNEWS ControlAir system. The broadcaster also added:
- Fifteen NewsCutter XP systems, five with Mojos
- Thirteen AirSpeed servers, which will be used for ingest and playout
- An Avid Unity for News system with MediaManager, including 2.88TB of storage for managing and sharing media assets.
RCTV uses the systems across three studios within its news production center.
