KTLN selects RF Technologies SFNstar antenna

KTLN-DT and KTLN-TV have selected RF Technologies to provide a stacked pair of new SFNstar UHF transmitting antennas for their Novato, CA, site. Minimizing ground level RFR was a major concern in designing the project due to the short tower structure and the location of the tower site in a county park.

The antenna uses a half-wave spaced slot antenna design with up to 30dB less radiation at high axial depression angles compared to similarly sized standard slot antennas. SFNstar technology was designed for use in SFN and DTS networks and for applications where ground level or rooftop level RFR is a problem.

The use of the antennas at KTLN-DT will allow the station to run a full ERP of 1000kW at 60ft AGL and meet all ground level RFR regulations.
