Commission to take up children’s TV broadcast obligations

The obligations of broadcasters regarding children’s television in a digital age is one of three agenda items for March 17 open meeting of the FCC at commission headquarters in Washington, D.C.

The commission will consider a Second Further Notice of Proposed Rulemaking concerning the joint proposal of industry and advocates on reconsideration of rules for children’s television.

The commission also is scheduled to take up the development of requirements to meet the public safety communications needs of local, state and federal entities through 2010.

The third agenda item is the establishment of a Public Safety and Homeland Security Bureau.

The meeting will begin at 9:30 a.m. and will be streamed for the FCC’s Web site.
