Ai's Depressed Collector Quantum transmitter will replace an old tower damaged in hurrican Ivan.

Clear Channel Broadcasting has selected Ai’s Depressed Collector Quantum transmitter using the e2v ESCIOT water-cooled tubes for analog transmission at WPMI-TV (NBC 15) in Mobile, AL.

The replacement is a result of hurricane Ivan damage to the existing tower. WPMI lost about 1200ft of its old tower requiring an immediate relocation of its Channel 15 transmission facilities.

The new two-tube transmitter will replace an older, lower-efficiency, three-tube Comark Klystron system. Installation is scheduled for completion this month. Ai shipped the two-tube Quantum IOT immediately after WPMI placed the order enabling installation to begin less than a month after the storm.
