By TVTechnology published
As part of its planned transition to DTV, the Hampton Roads, Va. PBS station WHRO has contracted Communications Engineering Inc. of Newington, Va. to provide design, engineering and integration services.
CEI will help create a digital operation with 12 server-based, automated program channels with HD/SD-capable infrastructure and integrated multiterabyte nearline storage. A multidisplay monitor wall will integrate HD and SD program monitoring with signals testing and alarm systems that utilize SNMP network reporting. The design and integration turnkey effort will also involve new digital infrastructure, master control, editing and production facilities.
The DTV upgrade is slated for early fall completion, when HD programming will become a regular part of WHRO's broadcast offerings.
