RTV Belgium Invests in ON-AIR's playKast

RTV Belgium has signed a deal with ON-AIR Systems through reseller DigiNet, where the broadcaster is investing in ON-AIR's playKast Komplete for two existing channels.

RTV is launching the channels with fully synchronised redundant backups in SD, but the playKast systems are already configured to enable HD playout as soon as RTV is ready to migrate to HD broadcasting.

"We chose ON-AIR's playKast because we need a scalable solution that will allow us to transition to HD in the coming years," said Bart Snoeks, head of the technical department at RTV. "playKast is the first genuine channel in a box playout system we've come across and we were very impressed with the latest features – especially the MXF support. ON-AIR's flexibility has allowed us to integrate our other preferred equipment vendors into the overall solution."

As RTV use Avid for editing, the Panasonic P2 MXF files will be transferred from the Avid systems to the playKast systems using Marquis Broadcast's Medway software. The MXF files will then be played out through ON-AIR's playKast.
