Poll shows interest in advanced TVs
By TVTechnology published
Viewers have a strong desire for advanced technology TVs, such as HDTVs, but they’re getting tired of the “reality” programming offerings they’re being served up, according to survey results from a poll conducted for electronics retailer Circuit City.
The survey found that 45 percent wanted to see more shows broadcast in HD, but more than half have had enough with reality TV.
Respondents also seemed likely to go shopping for new TVs soon. Thirty-four percent said they planned to shop for a new TV within the next year. Among those planning to buy, all respondents agreed they would not buy another conventional tube TV. One hundred percent of that segment said they were looking for an advanced-technology TV, such as an HD or flat-panel set.
Decision Analyst of Arlington, TX, conducted the survey on the Internet. The margin of error is +/- 2 percent.
