MTV will soon offer two simultaneous versions of the "MTV Video Music Awards" and "Total Request Live." Beginning this summer, each show will appear on television and will also feature another behind-the-scenes narrative on the cable network's broadband channel, MTV Overdrive.
In two different MTV control rooms — one for MTV Overdrive and one for the cable channel — separate sets of directors will guide camera operators and the shows' hosts.
MTV Overdrive, at mtv.com, will continue to stream live while television shows are broadcasting commercials. It will feature entire music videos after a snippet is shown on the “Total Request Live” video countdown, or viewers can take backstage tours with the artists during the "MTV Video Music Awards."
