IPTV access network market poised for growth, says research firm

Fiber rollouts driven mainly by demand for video services and intense competition among communications service providers (CSPs) is setting the stage for solid growth in the IPTV access infrastructure market on a global basis, according to new research from Frost & Sullivan.

The research, “World IPTV Access Infrastructure Market,” finds a focus on improving copper to handle triple-play via DSL and the adoption of fiber to the home is shaping the market.

However, challenges must be overcome for the market to reach its potential. Among them is the requirement for multi-vendor solutions and the ability to pre-integrate those solutions. According to Frost & Sullivan, successful vendors are addressing these challenges by participating in interoperability events and striking up partnerships that will help meet the end-to-end access network requirements of communications service providers.

Vendors providing solutions to communications service providers must engage with vendor partners to provide end-to-end solutions and provide clients with pre-integrated solutions to bring services to market quickly, the research firm noted.

“World IPTV Access Infrastructure Market” research is part of the Communications Infrastructure and Convergence program, which also includes a study of world video access markets.
