Net Insight introduces multi-service access device for advanced broadcast video, data applications

Net Insight's Nimbra 340

At IBC2004, Net Insight introduced the Nimbra 340 multi-service access and switching device.

The Nimbra 340 is a 2RU device designed to be located on broadcasters’ premises and in co-location POPs to provide advanced video and data functionality.

Applications for the new device include studio production and contribution, and broadcast distribution in CATV, terrestrial digital video broadcasting (DVB-T) or triple-play networks. Studio applications can take advantage of the Gigabit Ethernet (GbE) and DVB-ASI services, which can be complemented by an optional 270Mb/s SDI access module for uncompressed video. The device has a wide selection of transport interfaces from which to choose, including DS-3/E3 and OC-48/STM-16.
