WCVB, Boston's ABC affiliate, has chosen several HD Canon lenses to produce on-air promotions and special editions of its nightly news magazine in HD. Canon also supplied the station with 22 J21x7.8B IRSD ENG/EFP lenses for SD production.
WCVB can now do HD field production with three HJ21x7.8B IRSD and two HJ11x4.7 IRSD lenses. The HJ21X7.8 IRSD uses Canon's IFxs technology for lower distortion, minimized chromatic aberration and protection from dust and condensation. The HJ11x4.7 IRSD is a wide-angle lens that builds on the HDxs system.
All Canon HJ ENG/EFP lenses have Digital Drive, which includes the Demand series of digital servo controllers, speed preset, shuttle shot, framing preset, zoom mode select and focus servo speed.
WCVB has affixed the cameras to Ikegami HDL-V90 camcorders and Ikegami HL-DV7W DVCams.
