Rep. Billy Tauzin (R-La.), the Republican chairman of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, has asked his congressional colleagues to oppose proposed legislation that would block the FCC from making ownership rules that allow greater media consolidation.
Tauzin said Congress directed the FCC to do precisely what it is doing now—examine its ownership rules and justify them on an ongoing basis.
