MSRC members to vote on best practices, working group to study Florida model
The Media Security and Reliability Council will vote by the end of the month on 50 best practice recommendations detailing disaster prevention and recovery measures. The practices were discussed at the MSRC meeting Nov. 6 in Washington D.C.
The Communications Infrastructure Security, Access and Restoration Working Group presented the best practices recommendations detailing prevention and restoration measures for local media. They included practices covering:
- physical security;
- backup power;
- redundant facilities;
- disaster recovery plans.
The Public Communications and Safety Working Group also reported to the MSRC at the meeting. This working group plans to study Tampa, Fla., as a model for implementation of existing MSRC best practices recommendations, and to develop new recommendations based upon local and regional practices in the Tampa Bay area.
