KSPS-TV transitions to HD with SeaChange play-to-air platform

KSPS-TV, the Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) station in Spokane, WA, is relying on SeaChange International’s broadcast play-to-air platform to deliver all of its HD and SD programming.

In addition to its primary channels, the SeaChange platform supports playout for Washington State University’s KWSU-TV as well as several other local cable public access channels out of the KSPS facility.

The station chose to add HD capabilities to its existing SeaChange platform based on its reliability and PBS’s pending file format standardization. KSPS is using SeaChange’s Broadcast MediaLibrary/MediaClient (BML/MCL) for its play-to-air applications in conjunction with Harris automation. The five-node system delivers 24TB at 10Mb/s, allowing more than 5300 hours of SD material to be housed in online storage. More than 40 PBS stations nationwide are running SeaChange broadcast systems.
