ESPN.com attracts 20 million users in September

ESPN.com said it set a new record for monthly traffic in September, when its sports site attracted more than 20 million users. The monthly measurement, released by comScore Media Metrix, marked a 9 percent increase over last September (which held the site’s previous record of 18.8 million), and a 14 percent increase over August 2006.
ESPN.com topped its nearest competitor by nearly 3 million unique users.

Enjoying record fan engagement with both pro and college football content online, ESPN.com reported 10 of the 17 most-viewed days in its history since the start of the football season on Sept. 2. In the first five weeks of “Monday Night Football,” ESPN.com’s pro football coverage has generated an average of nearly 30 million page views each Monday.
