(click thumbnail)Nick RashbyQ. What kind of products or services does your company offer for broadcasters?

AJA Video Systems manufactures high-quality and cost-effective digital video interface, conversion and desktop solutions supporting the professional broadcast and post-production markets. Our KONA, Io, XENA and converter product lines have won numerous industry awards and allow our customers in television and film to streamline their post and production workflows.

Q. What’s new that you will you show at the NAB Show and that TV broadcasters should look for there?

At NAB last year we introduced several new products — most notably our Io HD which was co-developed with Apple to leverage the unique features of Final Cut Studio 2 — and our FS1 "anything-in/anything-out" frame-sync supporting virtually any video input or output in HD or SD. These products are now shipping and have seen rapid adoption in professional broadcast and video and film post-production environments. At this year’s NAB we will continue to showcase the latest iterations of these products, along with our KONA and XENA desktop video solutions...plus introduce a few new converter products!

Come visit the AJA booth at NAB this year for up-to-the minute news on our latest product announcements.

Q. How is your new product offering different from what’s available on the market?

Our Io HD video ingest and output device is the only product that supports the Apple ProRes 422 codec natively in hardware. Its capability was jointly developed between Apple and AJA, specifically for Final Cut Studio 2. Io HD is an editing powerhouse providing 10-bit full-res HD video over Firewire, while offering real time up-convert, cross-convert and down-convert to/from any flavor of HD or SD. FS1 is a universal HD and SD audio and video frame synchronizer and converter and has been called the ‘Swiss army knife’ of converter clients by clients who have put the product to test on live event broadcasts.

Overall, clients find that our clients are incredibly reliable, easy to use and offer the power and capabilities generally found in product with much higher price points.

Q. Where are you based, and how many employees do you have? Anything else we should know about your company?

AJA Video Systems was founded in 1997 and is based in Grass Valley, CA with a satellite office in Los Angeles. We have over 100 employees, and are continuing to grow.
