Video networking systems manufacturer VBrick Systems Inc. recently unveiled its VBSTAR, a video system that enables locations without broadband connectivity to receive and view DVD-quality video. It was created to meet a demand for high-quality networked video across a range of applications such as education, corporate communications and monitoring.

VBSTAR combines DTV recording, networking, video storage and an integral MPEG-2 video server to create a new VOD system unconstrained by a corporation's current network infrastructure.

The system is operated with a remote control and enables users to record live video from any source, save it to an internal disk as MPEG-2 video and transfer it to another VBSTAR via the Internet, IP or ATM. The video can be viewed on TV monitors and streamed to any number of PCs simultaneously. It is capable of storing 20 hours of video and includes features that allow users to record one stream while viewing another.
