MIAMI—As part of its live streaming efforts at the World Cup in Brazil, Grupo Televisa, the largest media conglomerate in Latin America, will use an immersive, 360-degree imaging system that fans can use as a second screen app from a company called Unified Video Technologies (UNIV).

The interactive surround capability—described as an "over the top dome effect delivered via real-time, OTT streaming—allows online viewers to follow the action on the field through the iVE second screen app on iOS mobile devices. By simply moving their devices through space using iVE, viewers will be able to navigate and enjoy an engrossing physical experience of being onsite. The iVE experience is powered by technology developed by yellowBird, a company that specializes in Surround Video production services for broadcast, advertising and entertainment industries.

The iVE 360-degree POV system uses special software and a collection of lenses developed by a company called yellowbird.

iVE uses custom multi-lens cameras to capture live events, including sports and entertainment, from a variety of viewpoints. Using special software, the service then stitches the video and renders it to create a fully interactive, up-close and personal 360-degree first-person experience. The iVE app also allows viewers to create a completely personalized experience in real-time by simply moving their mobile devices. Viewers may participate in the event as it happens or on demand.

iOS and Web users can go to the App Store and search for "surround video" to download the app and enjoy the iVE experience.

Fans can follow Televisa and the Mexican National Soccer team on the following dates to test the IVE experience: June 13 (Mexico vs. Cameroon, 13:00 Local time), June 17 (Brazil vs. Mexico, 16:00 Local time) and June 23 (Croatia vs. Mexico, 17:00 Local time - Croatia vs. Mexico
