Canadian sports network, TSN, has become the first network to deploy Harris Corp.'s VelocityNX HD craft editing system.

At TSN, the VelocityNX is used to edit native SD and HD files stored in a Harris Nexio shared storage environment. The new HD installation includes three VelocityNX workstations and is used for sports highlight editing. VelocityNX provides users with a toolset for both editing and creation of effects. It can provide real-time multicamera editing, color correction and accommodate multiple resolutions.

"TSN is committed to providing sports fans with the most comprehensive, high-definition sports lineup in Canada, and as part of this commitment, we have strategically invested the necessary resources to maintain our HD leadership role," said Allan Morris, senior vice president of engineering and operations for CTV Inc., TSN's parent company. "We have been consistently on the air with the Nexio XS server platform and the VelocityNX editing workstations since SportsCentre launched in HD in September, and we are pleased with the results."

At TSN, the Nexio server is used to continuously capture all incoming sporting events. As feeds are ingested in the server, operators identify desired highlight material. Editors then use the VelocityNX to create highlight packages, or to trim material for broadcasting.
