DENVER—Wazee Digital won’t be needing to borrow a friend’s password to have access to HBO as the company is now working with the premium cable network to archive its sports content.

The Wazee Digital Core platform is being implemented to digitize and archive HBO sports content that is currently stored on videotape formats. The conversion will allow HBO to preserve this deteriorating content while also providing access to the archive for stakeholders that need the content.

Core is a software-as-a-service platform built for the cloud. Core can manage complex tasks of video acquisition, workflow, universal access, metadata management and automated delivery. In addition, Core provides cloud storage that can scale with the size of a digital library.

To ensure the digital preservation of HBO’s analog and digital videotape formats, Core is using AS-02 MXF versioning. HBO’s MXF-wrapped assets serve as master files that can accommodate input and output formats, while flexible metadata support aids in search and discovery.

Credentialed internal HBO users and other stakeholders now have access to Core to search, explore and download content from the archive.

NEVADA CITY, CALIF.—The Telestream Cloud transcoding and media processing workflow is the choice for Wazee Digital for its cloud asset management service. The Telestream Cloud workflow runs on Amazon Web Services.

Wazee Digital’s cloud-native products—Core, Commerce and Digital Media Hub—enable content creators to make their content available for global publishing, syndication, advertising and sponsorship. To better manage this, Wazee Digital is shifting its operation to Telestream Cloud, which provides a range of media processing services, including transcoding, workflow automation, timed text transcription and quality assurance.

Content owners can now upload their media files to the cloud storage of their choice or upload it to storage buckets associated with Wazee Digital’s AWS service. Media discovered by Wazee Digital’s Core is automatically on-boarded for media processing.

DENVER—If you wonder where broadcasters get all of the footage that will be used during this year’s College Football Playoffs from, this year the answer will be from Wazee Digital’s Media Hub. The cloud-native video management and licensing servicers company announced that the CFP is replacing its File Transfer Protocol with the Digital Media Hub to provide a centralized, branded portal to access, preview and download approved CFP content.

Digital Media Hub is a central access point from which users can acquire, enhance and distribute media, as well as capture live moments and make them immediately available for highlights, publishing and syndication. In addition to providing near-real-time footage during the upcoming CFP games, CFP will also features its brand guidelines; logos for the CFP brand, national championship game and playoff semifinal games; and Media Day and press conference clips from the 2015-2017 national championship games.

On Media Day, Jan. 6, Wazee Digital will integrate workflows with CFP teams on-site to receive press conference clips and content, which will be made available for search and download within minutes of delivery, according to Wazee Digital. Digital Media Hub will allow media outlets, on or off site, to access content from Media Day to incorporate into their coverage.

The CFP and Wazee Digital have a previous relationship, as the two re-upped a licensing partnership back in October.

The 2018 College Football Playoffs will take place on Jan. 1 with games between Alabama and Clemson, and Georgia and Oklahoma. The 2018 National Championship game will be played on Jan. 8.

DENVER—We still don’t know what four college football teams will make the cut for this year’s College Football Playoff, but we do know one of the participants behind the scenes. Wazee Digital and CFP have announced a three-year contract extension that will have Wazee continue to serve as the exclusive licensing agent to tag, archive and monetize CFP’s copyrighted events through Wazee Digital Commerce.

Commerce is a video licensing platform that helps right holders or content creators connect their content with creatives. Filmmakers, broadcasters and advertising agencies utilize Commerce to purchase clips to use in their projects. The Commerce platform is backed by Wazee Digital researchers who can identify critical information and have knowledge on rights and clearances.

As part of its partnership with CFP, Wazee Digital works to secure the appropriate rights and clearances, and make sure all parties have an understanding of the process.

Wazee Digital has been working with CFP since it began in 2014.

Content is captured and ingested directly into Core in near-real time, and once the content enters Core, users can begin working with it in Digital Media Hub immediately and/or publish it to different endpoints such as YouTube.

DENVER—Wazee Digital is incorporating TrackVia’s low-code application platform into the Wazee Digital Media Hub and related live event services. With this, users of live event services can integrate real-time scoring data into workflows for instant information for both on-site and remote operators.

TrackVia is designed to create, modify and deploy customized and scalable web and mobile applications to allow users to streamline workflows and processes that require fast and accurate data collection, real-time workflow automation and synchronized task management. DENVER—CBS News is sticking with Wazee Digital to handle the licensing and distribution for its archived content, announcing that it has officially renewed its deal with the cloud-based video management and licensing services provider.

Wazee Digital handles the CBS New archive of footage through its Wazee Digital Commerce, a portal that connects rights holders with customers. Through Wazee Digital Commerce, customers can research the CBS News archive—which dates back to the 1950s—gain access to film/tape screeners and license the content.

Commerce is powered by Wazee Digital Core, a media asset management system built for the cloud.

No specific details were provided on the length of the new deal between CBS and Wazee.

DENVER—Some fresh 4K and HD is now available on the Wazee Digital Commerce portal from Skyward Kick Productions. Footage from the Ottawa-based production company includes extreme sports footage, corporate training videos and other documentary type work.

The Wazee Digital Commerce portal is designed to connect rights holders with customers who need video. Buyers can search and purchase clips through the Commerce system that they can use for projects. Commerce is powered by the Wazee Digital Core asset management system built specifically for the cloud.

The recent footage added by Skyward Kick to the Commerce portal includes sports footage like skiing, snowboarding, wakeboarding and BMX, as well as footage of martial arts athletes, networking events and aerial shots of nature for use in corporate and documentary projects.

DENVER—Wazee Digital and Paladin are putting its heads together on a technology partnership that aims to boost digital rights management (DRM) services on YouTube for key rights holders and content partners.

Wazee will use Paladin’s technology to complement YouTube’s Content ID system to make content claiming faster. By integrating Rights Monitor into its workflow, Wazee says it will uncover a greater volume of unauthorized user-generated content on YouTube through active saved searches, which are automatically refreshed every few minutes. Paladin’s tech can also be used to track viewership data and provide content insights.

“With more user-generated content being published, Paladin stood out as the obvious choice to manage and protect our content partners’ copyrights more efficiently,” said Harris Morris, Wazee Digital CEO.

DENVER—Content creators, filmmakers and documentarians now have 4K content transcoding and delivery capabilities via National Geographic Creative’s Wazee Digital-powered licensing portal.

National Geographic has employed a Wazee Digital Core portal since 2006, but this recent update to the cloud media asset management system allows users to order, transcode and download 4K content directly from the portal. Previously, automatic fulfillment was limited to HD and SD content.

National Geographic Creative is an in-house agency that brings together National Geographic’s photography and video stock collection, providing content to commercial and editorial clients.

DENVER—Wazee Digital looked from within to finds its new Chief Technical Officer, announcing the promotion of Greg Loose to the role. As CTO, Loose will oversee all technology for the company, including engineering, product and IT functions.

Loose has been with Wazee Digital since 2015 when he joined the company as a senior vice president of product and engineering. Prior to joining Wazee, Loose served as the senior vice president of operations at Gracenote, as well as other previous executive roles at Tribune Media Services in the entertainment products division.

Loose will be based out of Denver and report to Wazee CEO Harris Morris.

DENVER—Wazee Digital has tapped Josh Hatter as its new vice president of operations. In his new role, Hatter will oversee the company’s operations and help develop existing accounts.

Past stops for Hatter include a stint as chief technology officer for Revolt TV and Media and as the point for broadcast and production operations at TMZ. In both positions he helped oversee the development and launch of new broadcast and digital opportunities, per Wazee’s announcement.

Hatter will be based in Denver and will have Wazee Digital account managers, media services, customer support and workflow services all report to him. Hatter will report to Wazee’s Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer Mark Pougnet.

In addition, Wazee will provide an on-site Wazee Digital team to handle uploads, metadata and user support for broadcasters using the Digital Media Hub for a live event. The on-site services will integrate directly with the host broadcaster’s EVS network to acquire, tag and upload content to the Hub.

DENVER—The duo of Wazee Digital and Sony Pictures Post Production Services will continue, as the two companies have announced an extension of their partnership. Sony Pictures will continue to use Wazee Digital Core and its automated metadata-processing technology to store, view and manage assets.

The Wazee Digital Core is a cloud-native media asset management system that powers all other Wazee Digital products and services. Sony Pictures has utilized Core for the past six years to create time-based metadata for its assets. Analysts then use the system to manage inventory, share content and create custom clips for delivery.

The new deal extends Wazee and Sony Pictures’ relationship through Dec. 2017.

Utilizing the Wazee Digital Core, a software-as-a-service platform that was built for the cloud, the show’s content has been curated on a newly launched website. The service manages large-scale digital ingest, metadata and segmenting workflows, and third-party closed-captioning services. The data archive sits on Amazon Simple Storage Solution and Amazon Glacier, while Core provides archive management and global access to the video library.

The content portal was launched to coincide with the show’s 25th anniversary.
