WRC Promoter is the company responsible for TV production and commercial aspects of the FIA World Rally Championship (WRC), FIA European Rally Championship (ERC) and FIA World Rallycross Championship (World RX).

SAN JOSE, Calif.—Harmonic is rolling out a new release of its VOS SaaS platforms and cloud-native softwares, with features specifically aimed at live video streaming and broadcast delivery.

First up in what Harmonic is calling its summer offering is the VOS360 live streaming platform. This unit now offers 1+1 geo-redundancy for uninterrupted streaming; the ability to manage peak viewing by utilizing multi-CDN and caching capabilities; support for Google Ad Manager and FreeWheel ad management platforms; and reduced latency with Apple Low-Latency HLS protocol support.

Then there is the VOS360 channel origination and distribution platform. This reduces infrastructure costs with statmux support in the cloud and simplifies cloud playout workflows via new partnerships for traffic management and playout automation, including Aveco, Crispin/Sony and Florical.

The VOS cloud-native software, meanwhile, provides performance boost and density gains with Intel Xeon scalable processors. The Harmonic VOS360 platform is tasked with handling the complete end-to-end media processing and delivery workflow for Vidgo, helping to simplify live streaming from source to screen, speed up time to market for new channels and enable rapid service scaling.

Operating in a cloud-native environment, VOS360’s media processing functionalities includes live and file transcoding, packaging and origin, dynamic real-time CDN selection, targeted advertising, VOD, SVOD, time-shift viewing and network DVR. SAN JOSE, Calif.—Online auction shopping network Shop LC, and its U.K.-based sister company The Jewelry Channel, are tackling OTT content and have chosen Harmonic to help provide the necessary technology, primarily the company’s VOS360 SaaS.

The VOS360 technology will help the two channels distribute live OTT content to any screen by streaming CMAF DASH and low-latency HLS video. It will also help deliver on-demand content for web shoppers via its time-shift feature.

AMSTERDAM—Harmonic will showcase real-world deployments of unified broadcast and OTT delivery during IBC 2019, Sept. 13-17, at the RAI Amsterdam.

The company, which offers a variety of video delivery solutions, including SaaS, will show how broadcasters, service providers and content originators are using strategies, based on cloud, on-prem and hybrid environments to deliver video channels more quickly.

Harmonic will demonstrate unified delivery workflows running on-premise and in the cloud to enable delivery of content in multiprotocol environments with the same delay between broadcast and OTT feeds. The company will highlight how its VOS 360 SaaS can be used to launch skinny bundles, create pop-up channels, deploy disaster recovery and stream live sports in UHD.

At the IBC Future Zone, Harmonic will demo its 8K video delivery on 8K-connected TVs and legacy mobile devices with EyeQ content-aware encoding. The encoding reduces the bandwidth needed for 8K by 50%. There also will be a demonstration of AI-based video compression.

Stephane Cloirec, senior director, video appliances at Harmonic, will speak on how "AI-Driven Video Compression Brings New Revenue Opportunities and Cost Savings for Service Providers,” Sept. 16 at 4:10 p.m. in the Future Zone Theater (Hall 8, Stand F40).
