SEOUL, SOUTH KOREA—Seoul Broadcasting System recently rolled out a new 4K OB van and chose a pair of tools from Studer by Harman. The Vista X audio mixer and Infinity Core 400 audio matrix were installed to provide high quality of sound for this 12G SDI UHD single link production vehicle.

The Vista X provides operators with VistaMix features for consistent sound in live, multi-microphone events. The VistaMix allows for the increase in gain for talking mics, reduces gain for others, while also keeping the gain at a constant level. With the Vista X, the truck has four independent processors and CPU-based DSP enables two independent DSP cores running in parallel.

SBS first utilized the OB van during production of the ISU World Cup Short Track Speed Skating competition in Gangneung, South Korea. The truck is expected to assist in production for the upcoming 2018 Winter Olympics in PyeongChang as well.

NEW YORK—All Mobile Video is in the process of outfitting its latest remote truck and has announced that it has added the Harman Studer Vista X mixing console to the trucks infrastructure.

Studer Vista X

The Vista X features Studer’s Infinity Processing Engine DSP core, which uses CPU-based processors to provide control of 800 or more audio channels and 12 A-Link high-capacity fiber digital audio interfaces providing more than 5,000 inputs and outputs. Other features of the Vista X include Vistonics color touchscreen interface, VistaMix automated mic mixing, Quad Star technology, Dante connectivity, and two Lexicon PCM96 reverb and effects processors integrated into the console.

AMV’s new truck will feature three Studer Remote Stageboxes, all of which will be linked to the Vista X console. One of the Stageboxes is equipped with a Dante card.

The new truck will be operational by the end of 2015.

ELSTREE, ENGLAND – BBC Studios and Post Production have reevaluated its audio mixing architecture and has decided to replace the HARMAN Studer Vista 8 with the new HARMAN Studer Vista X at the George Lucas stages in Elstree, England.

A fully redundant setup, the new system offers increased I/O capacity and processing featuring a new Infinity Core, with 12 high-capacity/high-speed A-link audio interfaces that provide more than 5,000 inputs and outputs and more than 800 audio DSP channels. The system also includes VistaMix for automated microphone mixing.

The Vista X is accompanied by four high-density D23m frames, which break out the A-link fiber connections to standard analogue, digital and video interfaces. The new frames are also backwards compatible with D21 cards. Studer’s new design philosophy - moving DSP from SHARC to Intel CPUS - offers more power and expandability. Other features include a history display to show the last 50 seconds of waveform audio for each fader, and FaderGlow, which provides a color reference on the desk to identify the right fader.
