NEVADA CITY, Calif.—Telestream today unveiled Vantage AI, a platform-wide evolution of artificial intelligence capabilities that enable smarter, faster and more adaptive media workflows from ingest to delivery, and will show it at IBC2025, set for Sept. 12-15 at the RAI Amsterdam Convention Center.

Building on Vantage’s ability to automate complex operations, the AI expansion broadens the scope of what can be automated.

• Next-generation Lightspeed Live Servers for Capture: The new Lightspeed Live Servers for Capture double the recording capacity of previous models within the same 1RU configuration. Test & Measurement
Enhancements to Telestream’s PRISM waveform monitors, SPG9000 sync pulse and test signal generators, and ARGUS centralized video monitoring systems—which already support SMPTE 2110 and UHD—will help creators transition to mainstream HDR production and allow service providers to expand their reach, the company said.

“The new PRISM, SPG9000, and ARGUS capabilities we are introducing at NAB Show 2025 are the direct result of close customer partnerships and the need for practical solutions to today’s challenges delivering high quality media,” said Matthew Driscoll, VP Product Management, Telestream. “As our customers move new technologies into mainstream deployments, we are adapting the tools they require to be successful.”

PRISM, Software-Defined Waveform Monitors include configurable and remotely accessible software that performs within any content creation chain in both SDI and IP installations. Key enhancements to the PRISM platform include:

• Complete support for ST 2110-22 using JPEG XS compression: With up to 4 simultaneous ST 2110-22 streams, the JPEG XS compression allows an approximate bit rate reduction of 10X, significantly reducing the cost of network infrastructure by eliminating the need for manual configurations and simplifying workflows. PRISM now supports a test-signal out in the same format to provide valuable comparisons to a known good signal.
• User Configurable 3D LUT: Integrated 3D LUT allows camera operators to shade HDR cameras by monitoring down-mapped SDR signals and compare HDR/SDR signals side-by-side, eliminating the need for conversion boxes offers a more cost-effective approach, streamlined workflow, and increased reliability in live productions.
• Enhanced HDR production tools: Enhanced Telestream CIE chart includes the ability to narrow the range of the Luma to focus on specific regions of interest. In addition to the false color mode for showing BT.709 and P3, regions are now ‘banded’ to indicate how far out of the gamut they are to help colorists more easily map into these color spaces for increased flexibility.

Telestream has now added more resiliency configurations and troubleshooting tools to its SPG9000, Software-Defined Sync Pulse and Test Signal Generator. The SPG9000 is an all-in-one synch reference and signal source for ST 2110 installations that require a PTP source and in hybrid environments where Analog reference is derived from PTP. Highlights for the latest release of the SPG9000 include:

• PTP Capture: For debugging difficult PTP configuration issues, now capture network traffic (both Rx and Tx) on the media interfaces to download and open in Wireshark on your PC. This dramatically reduces the time it takes to capture the network traffic on another device, filter out the PTP messages, and then open in Wireshark.
• Secondary Reference: Add a precision secondary reference clock (e.g., Rubidium) to guard against loss of Satellite for PTP grandmaster applications and provide an additional failover option for added flexibility.

ARGUS, a centralized video monitoring solution for video distribution networks, now includes enhanced tools that allow operations teams to identify faults faster. Integrating probe data from entry to exit, ARGUS converts mounds of data into valuable and actionable information. Key enhancements to ARGUS are:

• Expedited troubleshooting with new Monitoring Groups: Instantly identify the location of faults using Monitoring Groups to accelerate troubleshooting by quickly diagnosing and suggesting solutions.
• Live video, audio, and caption monitoring for faulty signals: Jump directly from an alarm or customer complaint to viewing content from the monitoring point of interest. Instead of looking at hundreds of live pictures on a video wall, point directly to the problem by focusing attention on the few critical signals experiencing issues.

NEVADA CITY, Calif.—Telestream has added a new option to its Vantage media processing platform, an integration with Frame.io’s cloud-based collaborative platform.

The new Vantage Connector for Frame.io processes media files and metadata from Vantage in preparation for collaborative editing and then automatically drops them into Frame.io user folders for collaboration and review and approval workflows.

The integration has two modes, an interactive mode and a programmatic mode. In the interactive mode, the Frame.io connector is configured using an interface that mirrors the Frame.io website structure for users, projects and assets. In programmatic mode, Vantage can use project IDs to automatically configure the connector’s publishing methodology.

Once the “publish to Frame.io” action is completed, Vantage can email team members, letting them know the asset is ready. When the creative process completes within Frame.io, existing Vantage capabilities can then complete the distribution media processing tasks required. The Connector can also be part of larger workflows that include prepping content for edit and archival storage.

NEVADA CITY, Calif.—Telestream is making a number of enhancements to the transcoding capability of its Vantage media processing platform that are designed to enable more integration with third-party technology, the company has announced.

Among these new integrations is the Grass Valley HQX, which Vantage can use to transcode acquisition formats to Grass Valley HQX, as well as transcode Grass Valley HQX to delivery formats. Vantage also now works with Grass Valley Alchemist through a third-party connector to create orchestrated workflows that include their technology.

The update also provides Vantage users with access to the Colorfront Engine advanced color volume remapping tools that use the Human Perceptual Model for multiple display mastering.

Other enhancements with this latest version of Vantage include FFV1 encoding; support for Sony’s XAVC HD and HD Intra, as well as XAVC 4K and 4K Intra; an automated interface to Harmonic Spectrum video playout servers; HDR10+; and support for AS-11, DVCPro and DVC Pro HD, AV1, Tachyon 9.

All of these capabilities, except the connector to Grass Valley Alchemist, are available in the cloud with Vantage Cloud Port.

NEVADA CITY, Calif.—Telestream has introduced a new watermarking option for its Vantage platform that will allow for quick watermarking of live events, the company says.

Vantage now has an option to support automated Nielsen C3 and C7 watermarking with pre-render SID reservation. The new option enables broadcasters making VOD and OTT versions of live content accessible as soon as possible, with marks able to be applied in minutes, per Telestream. Vantage does this by “reserving” a source identifier, confirm that it is valid and then watermark the final deliverable for distribution.

Additional updated integrations for the Nielsen option include support for critical band encoding technology (CBET). Broadcasters can use this to embed watermarks into audio.

NEVADA CITY, Calif.—Telestream announced it has integrated Ad-ID, the industry standard for identifying ad assets across media platforms, into its Vantage media processing platform. The integration enables Vantage to validate that the correct ads are being played out in the right place at the right time, Telestream said.

“The Telestream and Ad-ID integration streamlines workflows by reducing the need to rekey information associated to a valid Ad-ID code,” said Scott Matics, director of product management at Telestream. “It also provides standardized metadata to Telestream and other members of the supply chain who can leverage the data to better ensure that the correct ad is reaching the right consumer.”

The Ad-ID feature can be integrated into any Vantage workflow and can be used during the ingest of commercial spots by broadcasters and cable TV operators, it said.

Users enter their Ad-ID subscription information into Vantage, which then automatically logs into their Ad-ID account. Vantage uses advanced metadata matching to validate the correct ad is being played out when and where it should. The Ad-ID can be embedded in the content to minimize mistakes in configuration and asset tracking, Telestream said.

The integration makes it possible to find and correct a discrepancy between vendor- or distribution company-provided data and the Ad-ID metadata, the company said.

The integration helps users transition from ISCI to Ad-ID, which assigns an ID to each ad and enables Vantage to query Ad-ID to validate an ad spot. If it is found to be valid, additional data is sent from Ad-ID and passed to other systems, such as the traffic system.

NEW YORK—Telestream’s offerings at the upcoming NAB Show New York will give attendees a look at what the company can provide from production to distribution. A particular focus for Telestream’s latest products will be the adoption of 4K technology.

To help with production needs, Telestream will have its Prism monitoring and analysis platform that is engineered for IP, SDI and hybrid workflows involving HD, 4K, HDR and WCG. The Prism unit that will be shown comes with new features like false color, HDR measurement tools and support for 25G networks.

The Vantage Media Processing Platform is meant to help with postproduction, featuring automated ingest, media processing and postproduction workflow automation. One of the components of the Vantage platform is the Vantage Media Manager, which provides a user interface for Mac and Windows-based creative editorial to browse, preview, tag and submit jobs for processing. The Vantage platform also provides GPU-accelerated multiscreen transcoding and automated content assembly while handling 4K+, HDR and Dolby Vision formats. Additional features include delivering final masters in IMF and being able to automatically process in the cloud via Vantage Cloud Port.

Telestream has a number of video quality assurance products that it will showcase, including Vidchecker and Aurora for file-based QC and correction. In addition, Telestream iQ and Sentry are designed to ensure viewers’ video experience with hardware or virtualized probes.

On the distribution side, Telestream has products to assist with live streaming, like the OptiQ Monitor, a subscription, pay-as-you-go cloud-native system that provides real-time deployment of live ABR monitoring for real-time video QoE analysis and a comprehensive view of CDN delivery network QoS performance. The OptiQ Channel system, meanwhile, enables the creation of new OTT channels from cloud-deployed infrastructure.

Telestream’s Wirecast Gear will also show its latest features, which include more CPU cores, higher clock speeds, faster RAM and the latest NVMe storage, will be shown at Broadfield’s booth (N121).

NEW ORLEANS—Video software provider Synamedia has announced that it is augmenting its video network portfolio through a partnership with Telestream. The deal will integrate Telestream video-on-demand workflow products with Synamedia gear.

Several products from Telestream’s Vantage media processing platform will be offered by Synamedia. This includes the Vantage Transcode Multiscreen that automates multiscreen VOD workflows and speeds up the encoding process; Timed Text Flip for subtitle and caption editing; Vantage Array for scalability and redundancy; and Vantage Analysis for workflow decision-making and design.

The Telestream products will serve as a complement to gear from Synamedia like its Digital Content Manager, which supports linear TV broadcast and live streaming.

NEVADA CITY, CALIF.--Telestream, a provider of digital media tools and workflow solutions, today announced the availability of its G6 Lightspeed Server, which provides GPU-accelerated processing that’s up to 10 times faster than software-only workflows.

Developed for use with the company’s Vantage media processing platform, the G6 Lightspeed Server processes higher volumes, including 4K resolution media, while consuming 40-percent less power than previous generation servers. Housed in an efficient 1 RU chassis, the G6 cuts power, cooling and rack space, while reducing transcoding times for single and concurrent media processing jobs.

NEVADA CITY, CALIF.—Tasked with processing and managing 1,000-5,000 HD media files per week, Syncro Services Digital Media recently installed a Telestream Vantage Media Processing platform in an effort to automate its workflow.

The main duty of the Vantage platform at Syncro is assist with the processing of 15-, 30 and 60-second commercials, including the creation of multiple versions to meet all required technical specifications. These versions can require different standards, formats, frame rates, codecs and wrappers; slate and/or non-slated; closed captioned or non-captioned; watermarked and/or non-watermarked; and CALM compliant audio tracks. Syncro has automated its 24/7 workflow with Vantage to handle these tasks.

Syncro’s Vantage workflow is comprised of the Vantage Media Processing platform, Lightspeed Server, Post Producer Automated Content Assembly, MacCaption and Telestream Switch. The Vantage system now helps determine what versions need to be generated for each media file; recognizing source files; directing the media along the appropriate workflow for processing; identifying and fixing technical issues; and flagging files with technical issues or anomalies.

NEVADA CITY, CALIF.—The latest version of Telestream’s Vantage media processing and workflow orchestration platform, v7.1, offers a new functionality known as Elastic Domain, a deployment model that enables media companies to use public and private cloud infrastructure strategies to operate Vantage 7.1.

Vantage Elastic Domain is a scalable deployment model that can adapt to increases in media processing by allowing for “bursting” capacity based on the daily use of extra virtual instances of Vantage. Users can supplement perpetual licenses with on-demand license rentals, allowing their system capacity to expand in periods of peak demand.

Vantage’s multi-node orchestration engine can adapt to a dynamic system footprint, add capacity as a zero-configuration operation, and makes the system agnostic to the underlying hardware and virtualization solutions. This allows users to select the infrastructure best suited for a specific business.

Telestream will make the Vantage Elastic Domain available in October.

NEVADA CITY, CALIF.—In an effort to automate processes and boost productivity across its media planning and buying operations, media, advertising and technology provider Cadent has brought in Telestream’s Vantage media processing platform.

Using the Vantage Transcode Pro media processing platform, Cadent migrated to an automated file-based workflow that reportedly enables a faster turnaround. The Vantage system is able to automatically identify media files that need to be transcoded; executes automated workflow instructions; converts between ProRes, H.264, MPEG2, MPEG4 and other common formats; performs media analysis for quality control; generates low-res proxies of full-res media; and adds Nielsen watermarks.

As a result, Cadent claims that its media processing volume rose to 500,000+ files annually and the turnaround time to distribute a group of 100 spots decreased from 24 hours to two.

NEVADA CITY, CALIF.—Featuring 25 channels in its network, The Young Turks is an online news and politics show that can be seen on YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, Hulu, Roku and more. In an effort to help boost its online media processing and distribution, The Young Turks (TYT) have acquired Telestream’s Vantage Media Processing platform.

The Vantage system automates editing, transcoding and distribution of TVT’s programming, including its flagship “The Young Turks” new show, as well as publishing content to social media outlets. With Vantage, TYT’s programs can be cut and repackaged into video segments for on-demand viewing. The clips can be created in any format, version or derivative needed for a variety of distribution platforms.

TYT’s specific Vantage platform features the following components: Vantage Transcode Pro for media processing and transcoding according to user-determined settings; Lightspeed servers with hardware-based GPU acceleration; Post Producer for automating editing, assembly, branding and captioning of video programs and segments; and CaptionMaker and MacCaption desktop closed captioning software. TYT also uses the Social Media Connector option of Vantage for uploading to social media sites.

NEVADA CITY, CALIF.—Spanish language programming provider Olympusat has put Telestream’s Vantage media processing platform at the center of its video production operations. Using the Vantage system, Olympusat claims that it has expanded its growth in channels and services.

To help manage range of channels, including its recently launched Vemox OTT platform, Olympusat installed the Vantage system with nine nodes of transcoding, three of which are GPU-accelerated Telestream Lightspeed servers and six are generic Intel machines. The Vantage workflow manager helps produce and manage all of Olympusat content, while the Vantage “run-on” rules direct tasks, which can benefit from GPU acceleration to the three Lightspeed servers and directs the other tasks to the generic Intel servers.

The Olympusat staff imports finished edits of programs from Adobe Premiere into the Vantage platform, but is planning on implementing the new Adobe Premiere Pro panel in Vantage version 7. This will allow for editors to track the progress of any encoding job on the Vantage server through the main Premiere Pro user interface.

Olympusat provides more than 100 channels through cable and satellite operators across the U.S.

LONDON—Robotic camera support system Vinten has announced its new compact robotic head, the Vinten Vantage. Designed for on-air movement, the Vantage enables moving preset shots, manual control and is camera and lens agnostic.

The Vantage is capable of supporting a range of cameras and both full-servo and manual lenses. Continuous variable speed control and full synchronization of any movement, as well as flexible mounting positioning are also key features. In addition, the Vantage currently works with HD-VRC control, with support for CP4 expected next year. Tally indication display and tracking data for VR and AR applications are also available.

Vinten plans to release the Vantage robotic camera head by the end of 2016.

NEVADA CITY, CALIF.—Telestream is putting its Vantage platform on to social media. The new offering, called Vantage for Social Media, adds social media distribution for broadcast, cable and over the top video workflows, enabling Vantage users to post videos, text and images to social media accounts directly from Vantage workflows.

Vantage for Social Media can deliver video to multiple outlets simultaneously, including YouTube, Twitter, LinkedIn and Google+; Telestream expects to be able to do the same with Vimeo, Facebook and Brightcove. The platform can be configured within existing Vantage content production automation systems or set up as user-operated workstations.

Another element of Vantage for Social Media is the Social Media Connector, which provide direct connections between Vantage workflows and social media accounts. When configured, it can establish connections to specific user accounts at social media end points, delivers video and metadata for each distribution and reports on errors in delivery. Users can choose between unattended and attended workflows.

NEVADA CITY, CALIF.—Philippine’s ABS-CBN media and entertainment company has acquired Telestream’s Vantage media processing platform. The Vantage system will offer the broadcasters a transcode farm that will be installed at ABS-CBN’s Quezon City-based iPost post production facility.

Vantage will transcode and capture video feeds from other channels within the network and also from external sources, according the press release, managing materials from acquisition through delivery. In addition to serving ABS-CBN’s transcoding needs, Telestream reports that the Vantage system will also help with watermarking and captioning needs.

ABS-CBN operates two national channels, two regional radio networks, 11 cable channels and six international channels.

NEVADA CITY, CALIF.—Warner Bros. International Television Production Belgium has announced it recently implemented a Vantage transcode server, file-based content ingest platform and workflow automation system from Telestream. This file-based workflow can support ingest, transcoding, archiving, media asset management and storage.

The new workflow integrates Telestream Vantage alongside production and MAM systems from Avid and CatDV, and an archive system from Oracle/Archiware. Warner Bros. reports that the integration of all the systems is a key part of the operation of production at the Belgium facility.

Warner Bros. previously tested the system with a Thailand-based TV production. The workflow was able to ingest 30 TB of data on at least 750 XDCAM HD discs to the Avid Isis storage and the CatDV MAM. All footage was accessible on-premise as well as in the cloud.

NEVADA CITY, CALIF.—Telestream has announced that in the next version of its Vantage Transcode Multiscreen platform it will support the VP9 video coding format. VP9 encoding will allow content creators and distributors to support delivery to VP9-enabled end points using Vantage enterprise workflow automation, says Telestream.

The WebM VP9 video codec is designed for web and mobile video. The format is supported by major browsers and in mobile system on a chip and smart TV platforms. According to Telestream, it offers efficiency and quality improvements over H.264.

VP9 will be available as part of Vantage version 7, which is expected to be released in mid-2016.

NEVADA CITY, CALIF.—In an effort to reduce delivery bandwidth needs within multiscreen distribution applications, Telestream has announced that it has added Adaptive Bit-rate Optimization to its Vantage software product. This new addition expands Vantage’s multiscreen OTT distribution capabilities, according to Telestream.

ABR is able to reduce bandwidth 25-40 percent while maintaining high quality media distribution, according to Telestream’s press release. For Vantage, ABR Optimize manages delivery of adaptive bit-rate packages, which reduces the bandwidth. The quality level of the image produced by ABR Optimize is based on SSIMPlus, a quality measurement suite from SSIMWave.

NEVADA CITY, CALIF.—Version 6.3 of the transcoding and workflow automation software Vantage has been announced by Telestream. The media processing platform has added a number of new features to this latest update, including the Timex Text Flip service.

Timed Text Flip is a closed caption and subtitling service that recognizes and automatically processes subtitle and captioning input files from service companies and customers. Burn-in subtitles from standard caption and subtitle files can be produced. The service can also extract caption data from incoming media and convert to subtitle overlay graphics. Unicode and Asian character sets are supported for subtitle overlay.

CEA-608 and CEA-708 caption data can be embedded by the Timed Text Filp into media files without video transcoding. It also has timing adjustment tools like starting timecode adjustment, time stretching capabilities to correct sync issues, and frame rate adjustment to match output formats of the corresponding video. Timed Text Flip can provide captioning and subtitling capabilities to the cloud via Vantage Cloud Subscriptions.

Additional upgrades to Vantage 6.3 include an Adaptive Bit-rate Optimization feature to reduce delivery bandwidth needs within multiscreen distribution applications. Vantage will now also feature Go Pro camera support within Vantage Camera Ingest and extending its Pitch Blue integration.
