LONDON—Timeline Television has announced Stream Anywhere, a new broadcast app to enable producers to continue shooting and broadcasting remotely in a safe manner.

The app, which complements Timeline’s existing remote production product portfolio, is an app pre-loaded onto an iPhone sent to talent together with a microphone, film lights, talkback and an iPad for return video, Timeline said.

In less than 20 minutes, the kit can be assembled. If further support is needed, they can call upon Timeline’s engineers to help them virtually, it said.

The Stream Anywhere app allows broadcasters, production companies, sports brands, marketing agencies and news publishers to continue delivering broadcast-quality video and audio to audiences using a cellular or Wi-Fi network, the company said.

Timeline engineers remotely can color match, rack, zoom in and out and control audio. Production teams can produce remotely from Timeline’s Ealing Broadcast Centre, their own facility or their homes, Timeline said.

Those producers working from home use remote producer stations with program and multiviewer streams. They also optionally can access hardware and software talkback panels, it said.

More information is available on the company’s website.

MONTREAL—Grass Valley’s fingerprints are on the new OB truck from Timeline Television, UHD3, which is designed to be an all-IP, 4K UHD HDR capable unit. Featuring Grass Valley’s Orbit Dynamic System Orchestration and Kahuna 9600 IP production switcher, the U.K.-based company now has a future-proof vehicle for mobile productions, per GV.

The UHD3 is able to link up with Timeline’s existing IP 4K UHD HDR truck, UHD2, for expanded production capability, managed by the GV Orbit platform. UHD3 features the same GV IP infrastructure and Arista 100G switch as the UHD2, just on a smaller scale (UHD2 is a triple-expanding truck, UHD3 a double-expanding one).

Grass Valley also supplies UHD3 with its IQUCP25 application platforms with SDI to IP essence processing software, which enables 25GBE ST 2110 IP connectivity for HD and 4K SDI equipment. The truck’s IQAMD40MADI to IP interfacing modules connect audio to the network, while MV-821-IP multiviewers handle main production monitoring. Additional IQCUP25-MV units support peripheral multiviewer applications.

UHD3 also uses GV’s Audio Live system, which allows production staff to route any source audio to any destination, per GV. In addition, dual GV Orbit controllers handle all configuration and monitoring of the truck’s IP backbone.

The BBC had commissioned Timeline’s UHD3 for presentation coverage of UEFA Euro 2020, but that event has been postponed to 2021. The truck will initially support Barclay’s FA Women’s Super League soccer and other live entertainment programming.

Timeline says that the addition of the UHD3 will enable it to support a wider range of customer needs, including remote production.

For more information, visit www.grassvalley.com.

Sophisticated MAM installation includes cutting-edge sports functionality and provides greater control of workflows and future proofing for new technologies

IBC, Amsterdam, Stand 8.B44 – 10 September 2019 – Tedial, the leading independent MAM technology solutions specialist, has announced that Timeline Television has selected its Evolution MAM platform to handle and orchestrate all the media processing and archiving workflows at BT Sport’s Stratford and BT Tower facilities in London. Timeline Television, an industry-leading provider of broadcast technology and services, widely recognized for reliability and trusted by UK networks, manages the BT Sport facility which includes three large TV studios, seven sports production galleries, a master control room, 20 edit suites, a dubbing theatre and an audience holding area.

Timeline Television required an enterprise MAM configuration for this BT Sport production project comprising sophisticated sports functionalities incorporating live logging, live clipping, integration with BT Live and post-production environment systems as well as integration with the deep archive system. Further BT Sport requirements included the capability to allow the sports broadcaster to maintain its entire archive with one system. It also wanted to give production users greater control of their workflow by allowing operators to independently restore content and have the ability to send content via IBM Aspera with ease.

Daniel McDonnell, Timeline Television’s CEO adds, “Creating a future-proof, format-agnostic system that integrated with the existing technology was challenging on all sides. We had to ensure that it could make full use of all Tedial’s technical capability, create workflows that added value for production and anticipate workflows that didn’t yet exist. Our experience as a systems integrator allowed us to create bespoke scripts and profiles to ensure the whole implementation was as seamless as possible. The production teams went from using a PAM only solution to a PAM/MAM overnight. The benefits were obvious from the start and we will continue to develop the product with Tedial to accommodate all future BT Sport requirements.”

Esther Mesas, CSO/CMO, Tedial concludes, “The system had to address all major aspects of a production facility from ingest to archive. It’s been scaled up to include faster access to the tape robot and increased storage capacity, controlled by Tedial’s Evolution aSTORM multi-site content management solution. It’s also future proofed in terms of new technologies including AI, social media, cloud with a micro-services approach. Tedial Evolution is a sophisticated MAM system capable of servicing sports production customers, efficiently and economically and we’re delighted to make this announcement in the run up to IBC 2019.”

###

About Tedial

18 years of technology leadership

Tedial is a leading provider of Media and Content Management solutions designed to maximize business efficiency and profitability.

Its multi award-winning Media IT platform, Tedial Evolution, provides global media companies and broadcasters next-generation MAM and business driven media workflows.
NEWBURY, ENGLAND—Timeline Television’s new UHD2 IP 4K HDR OB truck will be pulling up to Snell Advanced Media’s booth at IBC 2017. The OB truck features a number of SAM’s IP-based products and its 4K/UHD replay system.

Installed in the UHD2 are two Kahuna IP production switchers, IP multiviewers, with SAM’s IP infrastructure technology serving as the backbone. SAM has also supplied the truck with its LiveTouch 4K/UHD replay and highlights system to be used for demonstrations at the show.

The Timeline truck is designed to support 32 Sony 4K cameras. The Kahunas enable SDR and HDR to be run simultaneously along with down converted HD outputs. With this set-up, SAM claims that production teams can work in VSF TR-03 to work video and audio as separate essence flows within an IP workflow.

The SAM booth is located at stand 9.A01 during IBC 2017, which takes place from Sept. 15-19 in Amsterdam.
