NEW YORK—Thinklogical’s new uncompressed 4K 60 Hz zero-latency Private Cloud Solution offers cloud-centric editing for VFX and the post-production community. ST. LOUIS, MO.—Belden today announced that it has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire privately held Thinklogical from Boston-based private equity concern Riverside Partners for $160 million. The transaction will be financed with cash on hand and is expected to close in the second quarter 2017, subject to regulatory approvals and other closing conditions.

Belden said that among the highlights of the deal, it would “significantly” enhance Belden’s Broadcast Solutions platform “with one-of-a-kind, mission-critical solutions;” and gives Belden and entree into the secure KVM switching market.

It also adds Thinklogical’s numbers to the Belden balance sheet, and in 2016, Thinklogical generated $12 million in net income on $51 million in revenues for $17 million EBITDA, with accretive-to-GAAP earnings of around 4 cents and adjusted earnings per diluted share of around 27 cents in the first year of ownership.

Headquartered in Milford, Conn., Thinklogical is a developer and manufacturers of high-performance, fiber-optic-based video and switching equipment. The company’s products are used for real-time enterprise video management (including switching and transmission of high-quality video and peripheral signals) across a variety of end markets, including military, command and control, broadcast, etc.

LOS ANGELES—Thinklogical will use the bright lights of SMPTE 2016 to highlight its new TLX24 matrix switch. This 24-port matrix switch offers end-to-end routing of video and computer peripheral signals, is available with fiber-optic, CATx and hybrid connectivity options, and can be configured as a unidirectional 24x24 or bidirectional 12x12 switch.

The TLX24 delivers a 10Gbps signal path and when combined with TLX extenders can offer pixel-for-pixel transmission and switching of UHD, HDR and 4K DCI resolution video with no visual artifacts, jitter or lost frames, and with computer peripheral responsiveness. It also features a push-button front panel interface for simplified access and control. Any port on the TLX24 can be configured to accommodate any signal format or direction, in or out.

Additional features for the TLX24 include the ability to extend and switch video data up to 80 km over fiber, 100 m over CAT6a; MTBF over 100,000 hours; hot-swappable optical modules; replaceable modular power supply; and System Management Portfolio integration for switch control and management.

MILFORD, CONN.—Thinklogical is set to showcase its new TLX Series CATx matrix switchers and extenders at its booth (SL6028) at the 2016 NAB Show. The new, uncompressed product line includes video and KVM extenders and a range of matrix switches from 12 to 640 ports.

The TLX is a high-bandwidth (10Gbps) hybrid signal transmission architecture that supports both standard CATx copper network cabling and fiber. TLX CATx is compatible and interoperable with the TLX fiber-optic product line, offering system flexibility in new and existing installations, and a scalable, future-proof upgrade path. Thinklogical says it provides a 100 percent uncompressed signal path on either CATx or fiber cabling with low signal latency, offering pixel-for-pixel transmission of 4K DCI/UHD resolution video.

Thinklogical will also showcase video and computer peripheral signal management products for broadcast, OB trucks and post-production.
