LAS VEGAS–Cloud-based production from creation to distribution will be a key focus for Telestream at the 2019 NAB Show.

Telestream says the new products will enable faster time to market for service providers and content creators with “instant” channel creation and integrated video monitoring throughout the solution to create smart infrastructures with dynamic scale. Telestream has leveraged video monitoring technology from Telestream iQ solutions, as well as streaming technology from Lightspeed Live Stream to create “a unique, containerized, OTT video workflow orchestration and monitoring solution.”

New hybrid workflows will be demonstrated for content creators and distributors that can easily run processes on premises or in the cloud depending on where the media currently resides or will reside.

In addition to new products, Telestream will also showcase the latest version of its Vantage scalable, software-enabled media processing platform that manages all media services from the camera to the point of distribution. Advances include cloud and hybrid workflows, new camera ingest functionality, and Traffic Manager options with improved Grass Valley ITX integration. New Vantage features also include support for growing file support when uploading into IBM Aspera.

The company will also showcase a new UI and workflow for its Telestream iQ platform that makes it easy to read video distribution status for rapid issue detection and quickly drill down into the details to isolate and fix a problem. It includes real-time status visualizations, drill down navigation for troubleshooting across multiple dimensions, custom access roles and user profiles, viewership impact analysis with integrated end client analytics and the ability to monitor captioning and subtitle presence, performance, and video alignment. The solution is available for appliance, virtual and cloud-based deployments.

Telestream will also introduce Wirecast Live Captions and Wirecast Restream, two new web services hosted on Telestream Cloud. These capabilities solve two of the most common issues facing live streamers today: the creation of captions for live events and the need for efficient multi-platform distribution, even when upload bandwidth is limited.

The company will also demonstrate support for Edit@Home remote production, leveraging unmanaged high speed internet in its Lightspeed Live Capture platform. Built for Vantage, Lightspeed Live Capture, being built on the Vantage media framework, is the ideal enabler for this use case. For DAI (Dynamic Ad Insertion), the latest version of the system adds the ability to use a rules file that instructs the system how to react to SCTE-104 triggers. Lightspeed Live Capture also has new triggers for manual start/stop for automated recording workflows and record-on-activation for recording interruptions (i.e. a power outage).

Program and stream conditioning technology allows Lightspeed Live Stream to switch between live and scheduled sources and to prepare live content for frame-accurate ad insertion and content replacement, thus avoiding the need for downstream re-encoding. Now shipping with V-Nova’s PERSEUS Plus compression, support for SRT delivery, as well as synchronous dual redundant contribution to Unified Streaming’s Unified Origin.

The latest version of CaptionMaker will also be featured at Telestream’s booth. It now supports over 100 languages with auto-transcription and fully automated captioning and subtitling workflows. For high-volume, enterprise workflows, users can batch submit media using the Vantage Cloud Speech connector saving time and processing media faster.

MOSCOW--Fox Sports (the exclusive English-language home of the 2018 FIFA World Cup) and Twitter are collaborating on a live daily online show that is being streamed directly to Twitter using Telestream’s Wirecast live video streaming production software. Hosted by Rachel Bonnetta (@rachelbonnetta), the FIFA World Cup Now show is streamed exclusively on Twitter from Moscow’s Red Square each match day (27 shows, in total). It provides post-game recaps of all events, news, analysis, player and manager interviews, social media reaction from around the world, as well as original segments produced by Fox’s team in Moscow. The live coverage is in the United States to Twitter’s audience and can be viewed via @FOXSoccer on computers, tablets and mobile devices.

To create the live stream, the Fox Sports digital content group chose Telestream Wirecast to create a professional looking live stream that mimics the Fox Sports TV broadcast while offering digital elements such as responding to social media. The switcher inside Wirecast enables operators to switch sources and feature guests from anywhere in the world. The layers interface inside Wirecast enable operators to feature multiple picture-in-picture displays with graphics such as scores, stats, Tweets, and other relevant match data. Wirecast’s internal encoder will package and send the resulting live stream to Twitter.

"As soon as we started working with Wirecast, the quality of our productions increased dramatically. We're now at the largest sporting events in the world and we're happy with the partnership," said Daniela Mayock, who oversees the technical operations for the FIFA World Cup Now show.

The goal for the streaming show is to be an extension of everything the audience sees on linear TV, produced in a slightly different way, with a raw, in the moment feel. The same graphics packages and set location/desk (Red Square) are being used as well as high-quality broadcast cameras. Producing live streams at an event like the FIFA World Cup can be raucous, chaotic, and extremely fast-paced. It was important to the crew that they have an intuitive, stable and reliable tool that is cool under pressure and handles varying internet environments when working remotely.

“Wirecast is helping us extend our reach and increase engagement, particularly with a growing audience that is consuming their content on mobile, and many via social,” said Michael Jankolovits, Senior Director of Video Production for FOX Sports Digital.

The FIFA World Cup represents one of the most challenging and rewarding productions yet undertaken by the Fox Sports digital content team.

AMSTERDAM--Telestream will showcase the latest strategic advances and developments related to its broad product portfolio—spanning live streaming, video encoding/transcoding, video monitoring and analytics—at the 2018 IBC Show at the RAI in Amsterdam, Sept. 14-18, 2018. Following its 2017 acquisition of IneoQuest—and its systems that analyze and report whether content was prepared and delivered correctly over managed and unmanaged networks—Telestream is now ready to show how this technology benefits customers when integrated within its overall solution.

At the show, Telestream plans to introduce two customers—German cable network operator, Unitymedia, and US-based broadcaster, Fox Sports—that will serve as real-world examples of how this technology can increase efficiency, reduce operational and infrastructure costs, and optimize the customers’ quality of experience (QoE).

By adopting Telestream’s latest, intelligent media processing and file-based quality control, Unitymedia will be able to leverage this advanced video monitoring and analytics platforms throughout its network, which will help position its offerings as premium quality, and ensure that its technology investment is supporting its business development activities.

Telestream will also profile how the Fox Sports Operations & Engineering team has been using a solution integrating Telestream Vantage and Lightspeed Live with IBM’s Aspera FASPStream to produce Fox Sports' coverage of the 2018 FIFA World Cup from its Los Angeles facility. The combined solution enables high-quality streaming over standard IP networks to remote production teams for near real-time editing and production.

Visitors to Telestream’s 2018 IBC exhibit will also see the following new products, features and capabilities:

• Lightspeed Live for capture, encoding, packaging and delivery now offers scalable and social media-compatible caption insertion on multiple live streams with zero re-encoding and re-streaming, using sophisticated 608/708 caption insertion.
• New feature sets also streamline ingest for Avid workflows by creating Avid OPAtom MXF media with associated AAF files and automatically checking assets into Interplay or MediaCentral.
• Through greater integration with Avid, Vantage now supports MediaCentral directory monitoring and triggers jobs from MediaCentral ‘virtual directories.’.
• Vantage Post Producer’s titler engine allows for processing of NewBlue Titler Pro templates as part of Post Producer workflows for rich, animated graphics and titles. In addition, Titler Designer Pro now supports the import of Adobe After Effects projects direct into Vantage workflows.
• For its Wirecast live production and streaming platform, Telestream will debut Wirecast Live Captions, which provides the ability to embed live closed captions within streams using automatic speech recognition (ASR), and then distribute the content to YouTube, Facebook, and other RTMP destinations.
• Telestream will also debut Wirecast Restream, a cloud-based redistribution service that restreams live feeds to additional destinations simultaneously, saving bandwidth and processing power.
