NEVADA CITY, Calif.—Telestream has introduced ARGUS, its next generation centralized video monitoring management platform. Part of Telestream iQ solutions, ARGUS enables automated surveillance of each video transition point with data aggregation from monitoring probes across the video delivery chain, providing high-level dashboard views of service performance as well as deep dive analytics data, enabling service providers to quickly identify video quality issues and their root causes, the company said.

ARGUS introduces a new distributed system architecture for scaling the number of monitoring points from small to large, enabling a true consolidated single pane of glass for management and analytics. This means probes can be deployed across various regions or even countries all connected to the same centralized management system. 

“ARGUS was developed in response to the needs of OTT service providers who require large scale comprehensive monitoring,” says Charlie Dunn, SVP, Video Quality Monitoring and Analytics Business Unit. “It provides the ability to correlate video quality and performance metrics at large scale across the entire delivery chain into a single pane of glass.”

ARGUS aggregates QoE and QoS metrics from different video analysis probes including Inspector LIVE, Sentry, Surveyor TS and the Surveyor ABR solution. It performs program level correlation across the aggregated data and presents an easily understood visualization of the status of media quality and network delivery. It provides real-time and historical views of video quality metrics and turns substantial amounts of data from different monitoring points into actionable, business intelligent insights.

With its “pay-as-you-grow” business model, the distributed system architecture within ARGUS enables users to scale the number of monitoring points from small to large with a usage-based model. This allows for long-term growth of the system to any size without a large up-front cost. Continuously scalable for users with dozens or hundreds of monitoring probes, existing iVMS ASM customers who were limited by scale can now upgrade to ARGUS while protecting their prior investment.

Additional key benefits of ARGUS include real-time correlation of monitoring data across the video delivery chain with alert visualization of active alarms at a glance. Plus in-depth troubleshooting to pinpoint the root cause of issues such as compression artifacts, transport stream impairments, and network delivery issues. ARGUS delivers comprehensive performance reports to benchmark video network and operations using aggregated data and analyze historical trends by program, flow, and monitoring points.

ARGUS will be available for customer deployments starting in October 2022. Telestream will demonstrate ARGUS at Stand 7.C16 at the IBC Show at the RAI Amsterdam, Sept. 9-13. 

LAS VEGAS–Cloud-based production from creation to distribution will be a key focus for Telestream at the 2019 NAB Show.

Telestream says the new products will enable faster time to market for service providers and content creators with “instant” channel creation and integrated video monitoring throughout the solution to create smart infrastructures with dynamic scale. Telestream has leveraged video monitoring technology from Telestream iQ solutions, as well as streaming technology from Lightspeed Live Stream to create “a unique, containerized, OTT video workflow orchestration and monitoring solution.”

New hybrid workflows will be demonstrated for content creators and distributors that can easily run processes on premises or in the cloud depending on where the media currently resides or will reside.

In addition to new products, Telestream will also showcase the latest version of its Vantage scalable, software-enabled media processing platform that manages all media services from the camera to the point of distribution. Advances include cloud and hybrid workflows, new camera ingest functionality, and Traffic Manager options with improved Grass Valley ITX integration. New Vantage features also include support for growing file support when uploading into IBM Aspera.

The company will also showcase a new UI and workflow for its Telestream iQ platform that makes it easy to read video distribution status for rapid issue detection and quickly drill down into the details to isolate and fix a problem. It includes real-time status visualizations, drill down navigation for troubleshooting across multiple dimensions, custom access roles and user profiles, viewership impact analysis with integrated end client analytics and the ability to monitor captioning and subtitle presence, performance, and video alignment. The solution is available for appliance, virtual and cloud-based deployments.

Telestream will also introduce Wirecast Live Captions and Wirecast Restream, two new web services hosted on Telestream Cloud. These capabilities solve two of the most common issues facing live streamers today: the creation of captions for live events and the need for efficient multi-platform distribution, even when upload bandwidth is limited.

The company will also demonstrate support for Edit@Home remote production, leveraging unmanaged high speed internet in its Lightspeed Live Capture platform. Built for Vantage, Lightspeed Live Capture, being built on the Vantage media framework, is the ideal enabler for this use case. For DAI (Dynamic Ad Insertion), the latest version of the system adds the ability to use a rules file that instructs the system how to react to SCTE-104 triggers. Lightspeed Live Capture also has new triggers for manual start/stop for automated recording workflows and record-on-activation for recording interruptions (i.e. a power outage).

Program and stream conditioning technology allows Lightspeed Live Stream to switch between live and scheduled sources and to prepare live content for frame-accurate ad insertion and content replacement, thus avoiding the need for downstream re-encoding. Now shipping with V-Nova’s PERSEUS Plus compression, support for SRT delivery, as well as synchronous dual redundant contribution to Unified Streaming’s Unified Origin.

The latest version of CaptionMaker will also be featured at Telestream’s booth. It now supports over 100 languages with auto-transcription and fully automated captioning and subtitling workflows. For high-volume, enterprise workflows, users can batch submit media using the Vantage Cloud Speech connector saving time and processing media faster.

AMSTERDAM—Telestream will showcase what it calls the “world’s first fully-virtualized end-to-end adaptive bit rate (ABR) video monitoring & analytics solution” at the 2018 IBC Show, Sept. 13-17 at the RAI in Amsterdam.

Telestream iQ provides end-to-end correlated video service monitoring from ingest to viewer with all software virtualized, automated and orchestrated solutions with open API’s, deep data collection and actionable KPI’s to ensure Quality of Experience (QoE) for subscribers and Quality of Service (QoS) for service providers, according to the company.

The platform includes pre/post encoder, publishing and post origin/cache stages, through to third party analytics post end client integration. It also provides a single integrated graphical user interface for intuitive video service management and troubleshooting.
