LOS ANGELES—Appearing at the NAB Show New York, the Roland V-60HD plug-n-play production switcher simplifies setups and includes SDI inputs for camera sources and scaled HDMI inputs for data, computer, tablet and other video sources. The combination of audio features that include multichannel embedded audio, XLR and RCA analog inputs, de-embedded audio from digital SDI or HDMI sources plus a variety of video connections with a program and aux bus makes the V-60HD suitable for a variety of live event and production applications.

The V-60HD is portable and small enough to be used in multiple locations in an office or outside meeting location. The four SDI inputs and two HDMI inputs enable switching cameras and computers at the same time for dynamic presentations. The de-interlacer on the SDI inputs allows users to mix and match 1080i and 1080p SDI video sources without external converters.

The company says audio is easier to mix using the V-60HD’s auto mixing function that will automatically balance audio levels from multiple microphones and video sources freeing up the operator to focus on switching the video for the event.

NEW YORK—Roland Professional A/V is showcasing the V-1200HD Multi-Format Video Switcher, VR Series AV Switchers and V-1SDI Video Switcher at NAB Show New York. The V-1200HD Multi-Format Video Switcher, a hybrid-engine 2-M/E switcher and processor for broadcast and live events, gives users control of video sources, key layers and mixing engine configurations. It enables two operators using one frame for a broadcast/stream mix and a separate live event switch with pixel-accurate scaling on two outputs for LED video walls. Expansion cards provide additional I/O including SDI and DVI plus Dante and MADI digital audio I/O.

The VR Series of streaming-ready AV switchers currently includes the VR-50HD, VR-4HD and VR-3EX AV Mixers. Complete with hardware controls and touch screen operation, VR Series mixers enable a single operator to preview and switch video sources, mix audio and output a final production of a live event or meeting ready for webcast and presentations.

The V-1SDI 3G-SDI Video Switcher makes it easy to connect and switch 3G SDI cameras and playback sources along with HDMI sources including cameras, smart phones, computers, tablets, Blu-ray players and more. With support for 3G-SDI, the V-1SDI can operate at full 1080p resolution and can take advantage of the longer cable distance of SDI making this compact solution suitable for events and applications in even large spaces.

LOS ANGELES—Chris Halon has been promoted to the position of vice president of marketing announced Roland Corporation U.S. Halon, who most recently served as the director of marketing communications for Roland, will now head all marketing efforts in the U.S. for both Roland and BOSS brands, as well as lead a team of global content creators throughout Roland’s worldwide network of offices to promote the Roland brand.

Halon joined Roland in 2004 as market development manager, and previously held the positions of piano product manager and director of product management with the company. Prior to joining Roland, Halon worked for Technics Musical Instruments as national marketing manager.

Roland is a manufacturer of electronic musical instruments, digital recording equipment, amplifiers, audio processors and multimedia products.

LOS ANGELES—Roland has unveiled its new V-1HD video switcher, which it plans to release in December. This compact, portable switcher offers four HDMI audio/video sources with resolutions up to 1080p as well as compositing effects and creative video switching capabilities.

V-1HD

The V-1HD switcher features high-definition output between 720p, 1080i or 1080p. It can accept both 1080i and 1080p input signals simultaneously in either 1080i or 1080p mode. The switcher features a 12-channel audio mixer for mixing stereo audio from HDMI and external stereo audio sources and its microphone input. It also offers two HDMI program and preview outputs and a stereo audio output. The unit’s compositing effects include picture-in-picture and keying, which allow for graphics insets plus tilting and green screen capabilities.

The V-1HD will be available in December at a starting price of $995.

LOS ANGELES—With GoPro cameras capturing personal action videos, Roland’s recent announcement of the new WEARPRO mic looks to provide immersive first person soundtracks. Compatible with GoPro’s HERO3, HERO3+ and HERO4 cameras, WEARPRO supports both binaural and standard stereo recording.

WEARPRO’s binaural audio capture technique is able to accurately recreate the way we hear sounds in the environment by placing microphones at each ear. This creates a 3D audio experience with sounds coming from a 360-degree space.

To use the WEARPRO mic, the user wears the microphones like earphones and plugs the cable into the mini-USB port on the HERO camera. The mic is powered by the GoPro; no need for batteries or external power.

The WEARPRO also comes with two clip mounts to attach the mics anywhere. Two windscreens and four rubber sleeve pairs to fit kid and adult ear sizes are also included.

LOS ANGELES—Roland is turning back the page, as the audio company has announced the System-100 Plug-Out Software Synthesizer, a recreation of the company’s semi-modular System-100 monosyth. An integration of the Model 101 Synthesizer and Model 102 Expander, the new System-100 uses Analog Circuit Behavior to recreate the sound of the original.

The original System-100 was introduced in 1975 and offered modular patching capabilities, two VCOs and two LFOs, as well as sample and hold, ring modulation, a noise generator, and modular routing capabilities. The new System-100 now allows for patch-free use of both VCOs, both LFOs, S&H, ring modulation and more. The signal path can be altered and parameters modulated by connecting virtual cables between patch points. It also features a new 14x15 routing matrix for patching will all connections visually reflected on the control panel.

Designed for use with System-1/1m, the System-100 offers high-resolution, knob-per-function hardware control, stand-alone portability, and both virtual and physical routing and modulation capabilities (1m only). When connected to a computer, a System-1/1m serves as a controller for the System-100. Users can also Plug-Out to the System-1/1m to create a standalone hardware System-100.

LOS ANGELES – Roland has added a new addition to O.H.R.C.A.-based M-5000 series consoles, the M-5000C live mixing console. A more compact version of the M-5000, the M-5000C is designed for use in theaters, portable churches, OB trucks/vans, touring and more.

The M-5000C features a 96kHz sampling rate for sound quality, a 72-bit summing bus, discrete analog circuitry and redundant power supply. It also has 16 inputs and eight outputs, and two expansion interface slots for REAC, Dante, MADI, Waves SoundGrid and other XI-Series expansion cards.

In addition, the platform includes a 12-inch color touchscreen, 20 channel faders in three groups, anchor points, DCA spills, multifunction knobs and buttons, and a user assignable selection. The system also will have remote control software that extends the user interface beyond the built-in GUI available for customers in the near future.

The Open High Resolution Configurable Architecture provides the M-5000C a mix engine of 128 definable audio paths, open audio architecture supporting Dante, MADI, Waves SoundGrid and REAC audio protocols, and audio delivery over video using SDI, DVI and SFP cabling. The systems built-in REAC ports support integration from the console, Roland M-48 personal mixers, and I/O boxes at 24-bit 96kHz.

The M-5000C will be available in the fourth quarter of 2015.
