BARCELONA, SPAIN – September 5, 2019 – TVU Networks, the global technology and innovation leader in live IP solutions, will showcase its advanced Artificial Intelligence broadcast solutions, at IBC2019 (Hall 2, Stand B28) in Amsterdam. Already incorporated into several TVU products, AI is at the center of TVU’s story-centric workflow, which automates content distribution and allows broadcasters to customize – and therefore better monetize – live and archived media assets.

Customers across the world already rely on TVU’s mature AI solutions to accelerate news production and distribution. CNN Newsource, for example, provides an IP-based worldwide network of affiliates with access to breaking news, trending stories, and archival video content. When ingested through the TVU MediaMind Appliance, its live feeds are enhanced with real-time metadata generated by AI-based voice and facial recognition technologies.

As a result, CNN affiliates can find the live content they need in seconds by searching person of interest, geographic location, or other details in the metadata. With easier access to more appropriate content, broadcasters enjoy improved productivity and significant time savings.

Today’s consumers have a wide variety of platforms for consuming content and can choose to see a story on a smartphone, website, or TV. However, broadcast production is historically programmatic rather than story-centric. In the story-centric workflow, all media assets are shared, with content collected in a central location that allows any production group within a station to produce it the way they want for their viewers. This mass content customization for an audience of one is driven by Media 4.0.

TVU MediaMind can automate the content distribution process for specific platforms, from traditional broadcast to social media sites, for even more efficiency. The TVU CAS (Contribution Automation Solution), which streamlines the capture and automatic metadata tagging of live video content, integrates with major MAM platforms including AP ENPS, Dalet, and Primestream.

A context-based AI solution is also used effectively in TVU Transcriber, a real-time, speech-to-text transcription service. TVU Transcriber can embed text into a video stream for closed or open captioning, as well as output a file for auditing purposes. While the caption information is important for compliance, the data provides very accurate and detailed metadata, which also improves the ability to search assets.

The TVU MediaMind user interface, which keep benefitting from regular upgrades, offers improved facial recognition accuracy and management, as well as a new Microsoft celebrity face database of more than one million celebrities. Users can also add or delete faces, plus search the database using a photo. TVU MediaMind also offers three times faster cloud interface loading speed for video preview, increased recording time up to 24 hours, and auto-prompt searching keywords.

“Machine learning and AI are more than just buzzwords, and TVU is harnessing the power of these technologies to deliver ‘smart studio’ solutions and bring about the evolution of Media 4.0,” said Paul Shen, CEO of TVU. “Our industry-leading AI is improving the efficiency at every stage of the media supply chain, from transcription services to real-time live feed searches, which benefits the story-centric workflows of everyone from small-market stations to major international networks. At IBC, we look forward to showing attendees how our established AI and machine learning technologies are helping to accelerate news production and reduce costs.”

Cypress, CA, May 14, 2019 – The newly launched Spanish-language Hipica TV (TSG Network) selected Envivo Replay from Variant Systems as the heart of its production system. The daily live show features races, replays and offers handicapping selections on races from The Stronach Group-owned (TSG) Gulfstream Park, Santa Anita Park, Laurel Park, Golden Gate Fields, and Pimlico Race Course. The horse race programming is available every day at GulfstreamPark.com and youtube.com/HipicaTV.

The HD broadcast is independent of its English broadcast with separate producers, directors, cameras, on-air talent, race caller and now replay using Envivo Replay. Envivo Replay is being used to capture all TSG tracks to archive the day’s races, create race re-caps, and upload Spanish content to social media.

“For us, it was critical to archive each race track simultaneously and provide quick re-caps,” said Guillermo Burgos, Vice President & Executive Producer at Sellitto Video Systems (SVS). SVS produces the live broadcast for both Gulfstream Park simulcast and Hipica TV. SVS also manages all A/V requirements at Gulfstream Park. “It was so easy to archive all the race tracks in the Envivo system. The only thing we spent time learning was the sequence that would work best for the production team. The system is very intuitive and smart. And the company’s technical support is top notch. We’ve been very impressed so far with Envivo.”

In addition to race replays and highlights, the Hipica TV team is taking advantage of Envivo Replay’s built-in social media interface. This capability allows Gulfstream to streamline their social media postings of individual race highlights and race day summaries.

“One huge plus Envivo had was its social media upload extension tool. There was no learning curve at all,” added Burgos. “There are a lot of components in our control room. With the Envivo replay system, our team can easily save clips from our different race tracks, make playback recaps and upload to social media content faster than any other tool we’ve ever seen. It is simply amazing how fast we can load content to social media, which for us, is a must.”

“We are delighted that Guillermo and his team selected Envivo Replay to cover race replays, highlights and social media clips for their Spanish broadcasts," said Adolfo Rodriguez, Variant Systems Group Co-Founder and CEO. “It’s fantastic to see how the capabilities of Envivo Replay are enabling Hipica TV to streamline their workflow.”

During its first month on GulfstreamPark.com and LaurelPark.com in March of this year, Hipica TV reached an average of 76,000 unique viewers each week and nearly 800,000 total views. Along with live races, Hipica TV will include live interviews, feature stories, and insights from its four anchors.

FOR-A is the exclusive seller of the Envivo Replay solution in North, Central and South America. The distribution agreement gives live event producers and broadcasters the ability to use Envivo Replay as part of a complete live event workflow with FOR-A’s HANABI series of video switchers, ClassX 3D graphics and video writer telestrators.

Launched in 2017, Envivo Replay offers a complete replay solution packaged in an intuitive user interface with continuous multiple iso-channel recording capabilities, simultaneous clip storage of multiple angles to clip bins, playlists for highlights playback, built-in branding capabilities, direct publishing to social media platforms, as well as support for high speed super slow-motion cameras.

NEW YORK—Vimeo today announced a pair of new tools—Simulcast and Publish to Social—to help producers more easily blanket social media with their content.

Simulcast

Simulcast makes it possible for live events from the Vimeo platform to be simultaneously streamed on Facebook, YouTube, Twitch and Periscope. Publish to Social enables producers to publish their content natively to Facebook and YouTube with a single click. Both are available to members of specific paid Vimeo plans, the company said.

“Our new social distribution tools will give Vimeo creators a wider audience, deeper engagement and a fundamentally simplified distribution process,” said Vimeo CEO Anjali Sud in a press release.

Simulcast eliminates the need for producers to send separate streams to each desired social media platform, reducing overall bandwidth use and associated costs. Live streams distributed via Simulcast are archived automatically, the company said.

[Vimeo Acquires Livestream, Launches Vimeo Live]

Publish to Social does away with the need to upload videos separately to different social platforms. It also increases the reach of a producer’s content because social platforms like Facebook favor native uploads and give them greater visibility, Vimeo said. The new tool also offers producers a way to track plays, likes and other stats on a side-by-side basis across platforms.

More information is available in a blog from Vimeo.
