NEW YORK CITY—Pronology has unveiled StreamFile Core Enterprise, a cross-platform, web-based software application for large teams that enables them to receive IP video protocols and encode them into editor-friendly formats, such as ProRes, DNx, XDCAM and H.264.

It integrates support for NewTek’s NDI and Haivision’s SRT protocols, thereby delivering added IP and streaming capabilities, the company said.

Offering support for an unlimited number of record channels based on hardware performance, StreamFile Core Enterprise is licensed based on the number of channels needed, it said.

The product assists facilities as they move toward remote production. It can be used on-prem and in the cloud, including on Amazon Web Services (AWS) and other cloud services, it said.

The technology underpinning of StreamFile Core Enterprise is the same as that used by the company’s mRes encoder. The solution makes it possible for facilities and studios transitioning to an IP-based platform to use their existing NLEs, graphics and digital infrastructures, the company said.

It bridges the gap between IP-based video technology and legacy baseband recording workflows, Pronology said.

The product supports several codecs, including the ability to record ProRes and DNx with both .mxf and .mov wrappers, enabling users working remotely to turn their NDI and SRT streams into edit-ready files for Avid Media Composer, Adobe Premiere and Final Cut Pro.

StreamFile Core Enterprise also provides a web-browser agnostic, cross-platform IP stream multiviewer. It is agnostic in terms of frame rate and resolution, the company said

All StreamFile Core Enterprise features are secured and managed through granular administrator-defined user credentials. Permission levels for operators, production supervisor and producer are supported.

NEW YORK—Pronology has announced some new updates to its StreamFile Core cross-platform software application specifically meant to help with remote production and for users who are increasingly working from home.

StreamFile Core receives IP video protocols and encodes them into ProRes, DNx, XDCam and other formats. As part of this new version, Pronology has integrated NewTek NDI and Haivision SRT support to enable increased IP and streaming capabilities. The update also allows for an unlimited number of record channels based on hardware performance, per Pronology.

StreamFile Core can now support several additional codecs, including the ability to record ProRes and DNx with both .mxf and .mov wrappers. This enables remote workers to turn NDI or SRT streams into edit-ready files for Avid Media Composer, Adobe Premiere, Final Cut Pro and others. The software can also work as a cloud-based model using Amazon Web Services. Licensing and support is available for both short and long term projects.

Stability features have also been added to the software, allowing for automatic resolution scaling, frame rate detection and correction.

With StreamFile Core, users can receive broadcast quality media over Zoom, Skype and IP streams, according to Jonathan Aroesty, president of Pronology.

LAS VEGAS—Attendees at the Pronology booth on the NAB Show floor will get the chance to see the company’s mRes encoder using NewTek NDI technology. Pronology has integrated NDI into the mRes to have it be recognized as a source by other NDI-enabled applications and devices connected to a standard Ethernet local area network.

The mRes encoder converts information from one format to another for the purposes of standardization, speed or compressions. It can record multiple tiers of video per SDI or IP input channel and can create a high-resolution media file, an edit proxy and a live web-streamable proxy. With the integration of NewTek NDI there is now an entry point into supporting IP technology.

Location Intelligence lets editors, producers and other creative collaborators quickly determine whether the content they need is available on-site or if it must be transferred from another site.

Instead of wasting valuable time, bandwidth and other resources transferring unneeded media, including 4K—or creating extra copies of assets that already exist—Location Intelligence’s browser interface pinpoints the whereabouts of the media assets and requests copies to be delivered to their location—facilitating more efficient globally dispersed production.

Pronology MAM users can instantly view streamable proxy files of their content regardless of location, select their favorite shots, organize them into custom bins and send them to edit stations or other places. If what the media users want isn’t immediately available on-site, it’s automatically transferred from the most convenient location, either as a full asset or partially extracted sub-clip, and sent where desired.
