                                <p><strong>MIAMI</strong>—Noticias Telemundo, the news division of NBCUniversal Telemundo Enterprises, has expanded the distribution of its FAST channel Noticias Telemundo AHORA to Samsung TV Plus. </p><p>Since its launch in May, Noticias Telemundo AHORA has featured special coverage of major news events, including the Republican and Democratic conventions, the vice presidential debate, the inauguration of Mexico’s new President Claudia Sheinbaum and Hurricane Milton. Prior to the launch on Samsung TV Plus, it had been available on such FAST platforms as Xumo Play, Google TV, Fire TV, TCL, Roku, Local Now and Freevee.</p><p>“Noticias Telemundo is deeply committed to providing Latinos with high-quality, rigorously reported news and information,” said Gemma Garcia, executive vice president of news at Telemundo. “Latinos over-index on consuming news across various platforms and we want to meet our viewers on whichever platform they prefer.”</p><p>The Spanish-language news provider, Noticias Telemundo expanded its programming with the launch of Noticias Telemundo AHORA earlier this year.</p><p>Anchored from Telemundo Center in Miami, Noticias Telemundo AHORA offers breaking news, interviews with top newsmakers and in-depth reports on topics underreported in English-language media. The channel features Noticias Telemundo anchors Julio Vaqueiro, Arantxa Loizaga, Damià Bonmatí, Claudia de la Fuente, Octavio Pulido, Nicole Suarez, Johana Suarez and Vanessa Hauc.</p><p>The additional FAST distribution of Noticias Telemundo AHORA comes as the network strengthens its position among Latinos. On linear, the flagship Noticias Telemundo newscast is the only major broadcast network with year-over-year growth for 2024 to-date among all viewers, according to Nielsen data. On social media platforms, Noticias Telemundo is the No. 1 most-viewed Spanish-language broadcast news account on YouTube, the most followed Spanish-language news account on TikTok and the most followed broadcast-news account in Spanish on Instagram.</p><p>Noticias Telemundo AHORA is part of Telemundo’s FAST channel lineup that includes Telemundo Romance, Telemundo Acción and Telemundo Al Día. In the third quarter, Telemundo FAST channels recorded their highest quarter ever in hours watched, averaging 3 million monthly hours watched, an 18 percent increase over Q2.                                 <p><strong>MIAMI</strong>—Noticias Telemundo has appointed Gemma Garcia to head Telemundo’s news division, reporting directly to Luis Fernandez, chairman of NBCUniversal Telemundo Enterprises. </p><p>Garcia, a seasoned newsroom executive with more than 30 years of experience in broadcast and digital news in the United States and Spain, will be responsible for the network’s news programming across all platforms. As executive vice president of news, she will oversee Noticias Telemundo’s news programming, editorial units, digital news properties, newsgathering and bureaus in the United States and Latin America. Garcia will also lead coverage of the 2024 U.S. presidential election and the production of election-focused news specials, the network said. </p><p>“Gemma brings impeccable news judgment, invaluable experience as an innovative news leader and an unwavering commitment to delivering the highest quality journalism for the Latino community,” said Fernandez. “I’ve known Gemma for many years, and I have no doubt her unparalleled leadership, rigor and journalistic passion will help Noticias Telemundo grow our reach and strengthen our brand among Latino audiences.”</p><p>Most recently, Garcia was the head of news at RTVE Play, the over-the-top (OTT) media service of Radio Televisión Española (RTVE), Spain’s largest public media company, responsible for growing streaming and digital news content. In her new role, Garcia rejoins Noticias Telemundo where she held several senior news leadership positions. </p><p>“I am thrilled to return to Noticias Telemundo at this critical time for our community to reaffirm our commitment to rigorous and balanced news coverage across all platforms under our motto – las cosas como son, or telling it like it is,” said Garcia. “As we approach historic presidential elections in both the United States and Mexico, I look forward to working with the best team of news professionals in Spanish-language television to continue to give Latinos a voice and provide them with all the news and resources they need to make well-informed decisions.”</p><p>Garcia previously served as Telemundo’s senior vice president of digital news, spearheading efforts to develop original content and expand Noticias Telemundo’s reach on digital and social platforms. From 2019 to 2022, she was vice president for network and digital news and oversaw the editorial vision, day-to-day operations and production of Noticias Telemundo’s broadcast news programs and award-winning digital news team. </p><p>Under her direction, Noticias Telemundo newscasts won several Emmy awards including outstanding newscast or news magazine in Spanish in 2021.</p><p>Garcia also helped develop and launch some of the news network’s most innovative news franchises and initiatives, including Planeta Tierra, the only environmental reporting unit in Spanish-language television news in the United States, and Axios Latino, a newsletter published in English and Spanish in partnership with Axios covering Latino issues.</p><p>Garcia first joined Noticias Telemundo in 2016 as executive producer from Spanish television broadcaster TVE, where she held positions as chief correspondent in New York, Italy and the Vatican, and North Africa. She also served as deputy head of TVE’s news department, managing a team of 1,200 people. </p><p>Garcia graduated with a master’s degree in journalism from Universidad de Navarra in Pamplona, Spain. </p>

                                <p><strong>MIAMI</strong>—Noticias Telemundo has announced a new leadership team under Patsy Loris who started running the division earlier this month and is working to expand the news organization’s multiplatform news coverage.</p><p>“This is a critically important time for the Hispanic community with the country still in the grips of a pandemic and heading into what will be closely watched midterm elections,” said Loris, executive vice president of news at Noticias Telemundo. “I’m very excited we have assembled a top-notch team of experienced news leaders who will ensure Noticias Telemundo continues to keep Latinos informed with rigorously reported news and innovative storytelling across all platforms.”</p><p>The new appointments include Gabriela Tristán who joins Noticias Telemundo as senior vice president of news; Gemma Garcia, who was promoted to senior vice president, digital news; and Vanessa Pombo, who was elevated to senior vice president, business operations, news, Noticias Telemundo announced. </p><p>Gabriela Tristán is a long-time executive with 29 years of experience working in news who recently served as vice president and director of news production at Univision, where she oversaw the daily production and broadcast of all the network’s newscasts. </p><p>Tristán will oversee the editorial and production units of its news programs, including the flagship newscast “Noticias Telemundo” and the morning news show, “hoyDía”. She will also be responsible for special news programming including primetime news specials, breaking news coverage and events. </p><p>An Emmy Award winner, Tristán was part of the team that launched Univision’s “Al Punto with Jorge Ramos” public affairs show and developed the format for “Edición Digital”, the first national newscast to simultaneously air on broadcast television and stream on Facebook Live. </p><p>Gemma Garcia, who has been promoted to senior vice president, digital news, is now responsible for leading and growing Noticias Telemundo’s expanding digital news initiatives. Since joining the network in 2016, Garcia has served as the executive producer of “Noticias Telemundo” and the vice president for network and digital news, overseeing the editorial vision, day-to-day operations and production of Telemundo’s Emmy award-winning national weekday evening newscast.</p><p>Vanessa Pombo, who has been promoted to senior vice president, business operations, news. Pombo will manage the news division’s operations and resource allocation, responsible for finance, human resources, legal and sales. Pombo will also oversee studio and field operations production needs. She previously was vice president of production management and business operations and has helped develop new revenue opportunities across the news division. </p><p>Tristán, Garcia and Pombo will report to Loris, who was named head of Noticias Telemundo in November. She succeeded Luis Fernandez, who retired at the end of 2021, and took over as the top executive in the news division on January 1, 2022.</p>

                                <p><strong>MIAMI—</strong>Less than a year away from the 2020 U.S. presidential election, Noticias Telemundo is ramping up its election coverage with a particular increase in its digital operations. In a recent press release, the Hispanic-language network announced some of its planned digital programming as well as new hires for what it bills as its “biggest-ever electoral coverage.”</p><figure class="van-image-figure pull-" data-bordeaux-image-check ><div class='image-full-width-wrapper'><div class='image-widthsetter' ><p class="vanilla-image-block" style="padding-top:56.25%;"><img id="RzTDpbUxBxtSJAqkiduQdd" name="" alt="" src="https://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/RzTDpbUxBxtSJAqkiduQdd.png" mos="https://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/RzTDpbUxBxtSJAqkiduQdd.png" align="" fullscreen="" width="" height="" attribution="" endorsement="" class="pull-"></p></div></div></figure><p>“Our web, app and social platforms will feature three times the volume of political content in comparison to 2016,” said Maria Luisa Tabares, director of Digital News Content.</p><p>Part of Noticias Telemundo’s digital strategy will include exclusive programming on popular and emerging digital platforms. One will be a daily YouTube native newscast done in English, while the network will also produce a news show for the new digital platform Quibi.</p><p>In addition, Noticias Telemundo has announced that it has doubled the size of its editorial team, bringing in multimedia journalists to produce stories specifically for digital, social and linear platforms.</p><p>Other efforts in the run-up to the 2020 election include partnerships with fact-checking organizations like PolitiFact and Animal Politico; a partnership with the <em>Des Moines Register</em>; and the previous actions of building a new studio and hirings that include Patsy Loris as senior vice president, elections 2020, and appointing Romina Rosado as the head of digital news.</p><p>“Latinos are increasingly consuming most of their political news online or via mobile devices,” said Rosado. “Our expanded digital operations will get us even closer to our audience during a critical electoral year.”</p><p>More information can be found at the newly redesigned <a href="https://www.telemundo.com/noticias">Noticias Telemundo website</a>.</p>

                                <p><strong>MIAMI</strong> — Spanish-language TV network Telemundo Network recently opened the doors to its new $250 million headquarters, Telemundo Center. Continuing the unveilings, the NBCUniversal network showed-off the facility’s advanced 360-degree news studio, designed to support the production of more than 3,000 hours of programming annually.</p><p>Viewers got their first look at the 3,700 square foot studio — with its 45-foot ceilings, 8K LED screen, and multifunctional anchor desk that seats 16 people — during the network’s daily primetime newscast, “Noticias Telemundo” with José Díaz-Balart.</p><p><a href="https://www.tvtechnology.com/news/telemundo-opens-miami-global-hq"><em><strong>[Read: Telemundo Opens Miami Global HQ]</strong></em></a></p><p>Designed by Juan Ramón Martín, Creativity and Image director for Spain’s Atresmedia Group, the “Noticias Telemundo” studio’s 36 x 12-foot LED screen displays realistic 8K imagery with over 11 million megapixels. Anchors and operators also have the latest control technology for manipulating and interacting with multiple video feeds and graphics displays.
