LAS VEGAS—Marquis will offer attendees a look at its editing workflow productivity tools at the 2017 NAB Show, including the Worx4 X app that reduces the size of Apple Final Cut Pro X projects without compression or quality loss.

Designed to facilitate project sharing, Wor4 X can reduce the size of a project that involves a high shooting ratio by more than 90 percent, making it faster and easier to share, deliver and archive large FCP X projects. Marquis will also demonstrate Worx4 Pro, a media discovery tool for Adobe Premiere ProCC that identifies where all project-related media is stored so that editors never deliver a project with missing media.

Also on display will be Edit Bridge, which enables Avid Interplay content to be found and used within multiple editing applications, including Adobe Premiere Pro CC, Adobe After Effects CC and Apple FCP X. While it’s intended for users of Avid ISIS NEXIS and Interplay, it also allows non-Avid editors to work seamlessly within an Avid Interplay environment.

Marquis will also show Project and Workspace Parking tools for ISIS NEXIS storage analysis, optimization, productivity, archive and business continuity. Avid-Certified Project Parking is an Avid storage management solution that archives, moves and restores Avid projects, as well as analyzing and managing media to optimize storage utilization. Workspace Parking is a business continuity solution for Avid workspaces that gets high value productions back up and running in minutes.

AMSTERDAM, NETHERLANDS–Marquis Broadcast will introduce a 4K version of its Medway workflow automation system at IBC 2016 in Amsterdam.

With 4K using significantly more edit storage space than HD, Marquis says the Medway’s 4K capability uses an offline work approach to dealing with the high amount of data that comes with the ultra-high resolution format.

“Medway generates a HD ‘mezzanine’ format of the required content for editing, and then when the editor is ready to switch to 4K, Medway trims the 4K files to only the used frames with handles and delivers to the edit storage. This is a practical and real solution which saves space and therefore reduces the need to invest in additional edit storage,” explains Chris Steele, managing director, Marquis Broadcast.

According to Marquis Managing Director Chris Steele, Project Parking has been designed to work as a complete Avid storage management system. It analyzes Avid projects and media to recognize which projects are taking up the most space and then transfer, archive or delete accordingly.

As an Avid certified product, Project Parking will reportedly allow for easier upgrades, with product enhancements being coordinated between manufacturers for technical integration.

LAS VEGAS—At the 2016 NAB Show, Marquis Broadcast will showcase the expanded capabilities of its Edit Bridge, which now extends multi-vendor system integration beyond Adobe Premiere Pro CC and Avid Interplay to include Apple Final Cut Pro X or Grass Valley Edius.

With its third-party integration, Edit Bridge makes it easier for editors to browse content, view thumbnails, find and select media on Avid Interplay and import their selections by dragging and dropping them into their chosen editing applications. Finished files and metadata can be put back on ISIS.

BERKSHIRE, ENGLAND—Marquis’ Project Parking archive retrieving system has been selected by Warner Bros. Television Production U.K. to aid with the parking of projects.

With Project Parking now developed to be an Avid storage management system, WBTVP U.K. will use the system to manage Avid projects on its 250 TB EditShare and 96 TB Isis storage. Project Parking is also being used to move projects that started on EditShare to Avid Isis storage.

“The workspace analysis in Project Parking is now key in offering a clear view of storage usage per production/project,” said Greg Light, senior edit assistant at Warner Bros. “Finding orphaned files or those that have been saved to incorrect locations is also very useful.”

BERKSHIRE, ENGLAND—Marquis Broadcast and SGL are continuing their relationship with the integration of Marquis’ Project Parking Avid storage management system and SGL’s FlashNet content management system.

By combining Parking and Flashnet, facilities are able to archive and restore whole projects, according to Marquis; this includes all bins, sequences and media files. The Parking system creates complete copies of any Avid project and media onto the FlashNet storage.

Marquis is also currently offering a free download of Parking, which analyzes a facility’s shared storage and how it is being used. This free version will identify how much space projects are taking up and space wasted by orphan and duplicate media. The free version does not “park” projects.
