ANCHORAGE—Alaska News Source (KTUU) has added new lighting and video wall power control from LynTec to its studios here.

Installed by Alaska Universal Productions, the setup includes two LynTec RPCR Automated Relay Panels, providing 32 circuits of automated power control, which enables fast, efficient lighting presets to support the broadcaster’s busy network schedule, reducing cable runs and ensuring efficient operation of lighting and video walls, the company said.

"Broadcasters like Alaska's News Source are tasked with delivering the news and can't afford for their systems to go down in the middle of a segment," said Jonathan Huff, CEO and president of AUP. "I knew I needed a power control product that wouldn't fail. LynTec is super simple and reliable."

AUP redid Alaska News Source’s entire lighting grid, incorporating existing and new lighting for a total of 150 fixtures. These included a mix of ETC Source Four, Philips Selecon PLCyc and multiple Brightline fixtures. The installation also included nearly 1,000 feet of pixel tape and four video walls, LynTec said.

Working with manufacturer representative Matt Skjerven of Image Marketing West, Huff selected two LynTec RPCR-16 Automated Relay Panels to manage power to the LED fixtures and provide individual control over every circuit, delivering the flexibility that previously would have come from a dimming system. This way, the lighting control system can cycle power to individual circuits to give an occasional hard reboot to the LED fixtures or to enable service in one area while maintaining lighting in another, it said.

Once the panels were wired in, they only required a network cable connection. From LynTec's web GUI, the integrator was able to set the control options for each circuit. Programmed to integrate with the studio's lighting console, the broadcaster can shut down power to the LED fixtures and sequence the video walls, ensuring the equipment is not consuming standby power when not in use and are protected from damaging inrush when powered on, it said.

LENEXA, KAN.—Martin Dornfeld has been hired by LynTec to the position of national sales manager. Dornfeld would be responsible for working with “new and existing LynTec customers to ensure the best possible power distribution and control solution for any installation,” according to the press release from LynTec.

Prior to joining LynTec, Dornelf spent the last 11 years at SurgeX, where he rose to the position of head of commercial sales.

LynTec has seen some growth in the last year, including moving into a new facility. “I’m very excited to help LynTec usher in this new chapter of the company’s growth,” said Dornfeld.

LENEXA, KAN.—LynTec has unveiled its latest product to the broadcast industry, the Integrated Power Center panel. This circuit breaker panel and isolation transformer is integrated into a single enclosure. The IPC panel adds control to Schneider Electric’s space- and labor-saving Integrated Equipment product line.

The IPC Panel is a ready-to-wire transformer, panel board and control system in a single, floor-standing enclosure. The panel can be configured with as many as 84 circuit breakers above an isolation transformer.

Internal panel boards are set forward in the IPC enclosure to allow code compliance and vertical cooling for the isolation transformer. The wiring is accessible at both the top and bottom panels of the enclosure.

IPC panels are available with LynTec’s RPC, MSP, LCP or SCP panels and control options, and breaker counts, break sizing, and transformer sizing can be customized for a specific application.

LENEXA, KAN.—LynTec has unveiled its latest product, the Input/Output-Relay board for the Remote Power Controller platform. The I/O-R board expands RPC control options to include control for high-current contractors and UPS outlets, providing more flexibility to connect and control complex systems on a single control platform.

The I/O-R board can control any device that can be controlled with a low-voltage dry-contact closure as part of the RPC control platform. This allows users to assign an address to any remote device and control it individually or as part of a system sequence. The I/O-R board can be installed into an RPC panel like a standard I/O board. It can also output programs and operate as a motorized breaker via a Web interface.

LENEXA, KAN.—In an effort to accommodate new product lines and an increase in manufacturing volume, LynTec, a manufacturer of electrical power control systems, has announced that it has moved facilities. The larger facility increases LynTec’s manufacturing space by 50 percent.

According to LynTec, the move comes as a result of increased sales volume thanks to a growing customer base for the still relatively new performance-space lighting-control market. Additionally, LynTec has added larger-sized panels to accommodate the market, as well as a growth for the company’s RPCR relay panel line.
