MONTREAL—Grass Valley’s LiveTouch replay and highlights system has been added to Studio Berlin’s live production workflow as part of a recent upgrade. Studio Berlin’s upscaled replay and highlights capability comes via 48 UHD HDR sQ server channels and 15 new LiveTouch panels, all of which will support its live events, sports and autoracing productions.

The LiveTouch system delivers multi-angle capabilities and opens up collaborative workflows via virtual shared storage. With LiveTouch, editors can edit files while they are still being created and without the need for file transfers.

Studio Berlin’s setup of LiveTouch will be designed so it can be used as a single large replay system or as separate units across Studio Berlin’s OB trucks. 

With LiveTouch, Studio Berlin will be able to deliver slow-motion and instant replays quickly, supporting clip creation, editing metadata entry and playback from a single interface, per Grass Valley.

MONTREAL—Grass Valley has announced its LiveTouch 1300, a new addition to the company’s group of live highlights and replay production systems. LiveTouch 1300 is designed for 4K UHD production, giving users the ability to capture video directly from IP sources, while also delivering expanded collaborative workflow, according to GV.

The LiveTouch 1300 platform can be used for mobile, outside broadcast productions and sports venues. There is a new HTML5 LiveTouch Dashboard for system monitoring, control, start up and basic configuration.

The LiveTouch panel touts an integrated toolset that is meant to eliminate the need for external PCs, GV says. This latest version of LiveTouch enables multiformat production without changing the operator workflow. It also features inputs that support up to full raster, single stream 4K UHD/HD processing and HDR/SDR up and down or cross-mapping. Concurrent operators may have access to all cameras and servers. There is also the Fileflow 4, a streamlined UI for operators to create rules for automated file delivery to social media, archive and other network-based destinations.

Grass Valley gave LiveTouch 1300 dual redundant 50G SMPTE ST 2110 IP interfaces with NMOS IS-04 and IS-05 for the use of standard IT network connections to identify and connect the system. Panels connect over IP for remote operation capability.

LAS VEGAS—Grass Valley’s 2019 NAB Show product showcase starts with the latest version of its LiveTouch highlights and replay production system.

Among the new features for the LiveTouch system are 4K UHD slow-motion replay, direct playout and full super slow-motion support and support for HDR. With its new HDR capability, the LiveTouch can handle color mapping from any format to the production format of choice, removing the need for external HDR processing. Users can also work across multiple formats.

LiveTouch also now has an advanced audio editing suite with intuitive controls for editing during a live event. Audio and video can be split and edited independently; audio can be advanced or delayed in a playlist; and auxiliary audio tracks can be dropped into a LiveTouch playlist to add music or sound effects.

Grass Valley touts that the LiveTouch platform can be paired with its LDX cameras in either remote or at-home productions. With the Go! Production suite, LiveTouch can handle editing from any device that supports an internet browser.
