                                <p><strong>MILAN, Italy</strong>—Brightcove has released seven new features designed to expand global reach, improve audience engagement, enhance live-streaming quality and streamline video workflows. </p><p>The updates build on the roadmap Brightcove unveiled in July and contribute to a broader set of 12 new tools Brightcove has introduced in recent months. Nearly 150 customers are already trialing Brightcove’s new AI features and several are using the updated live experience to deliver high-quality events to large audiences, the company said.</p><p>A key highlight of these releases is the expansion of Brightcove’s AI Suite. The new Universal Translator now allows customers to localize videos into more than 50 languages directly within the platform. Users can refine AI-generated transcripts before translation begins, ensuring the resulting dubbed audio maintains the tone, pacing and authenticity of the original content. In response to customer feedback, Brightcove has added additional output options, including fully synthetic voices alongside those modeled on the original speaker, it said. </p><p>The Auto-Captions feature, already used by more than 250 customers, has been enhanced to deliver more accurate and natural-sounding captions. With the addition of a custom dictionary, customers can now control how brand names, product terms, acronyms and sensitive language are handled.</p><p>Brightcove has also introduced the Metadata Optimizer, which automatically generates and translates metadata using text, audio and visual analysis. With support for more than 40 languages and customizable style and tagging rules, the tool helps teams improve SEO, enhance searchability and ensure brand alignment across their video catalogs. Based on customer feedback, the tool has evolved to include visual inputs, improving contextual understanding and producing more accurate results, it said.</p><p>To help customers boost mobile engagement, Brightcove has introduced Vertical Videos, a new gallery template that enables businesses to host swipeable vertical video feeds on their own websites, it said. </p><p>The company also has enhanced the live-streaming experience through NextGen Live, which delivers major improvements in stream quality, latency, content protection and monetization.. NextGen Live now offers 4K ultra-high-definition streaming for sports, entertainment and enterprise broadcasts, as well as low-latency delivery with delays as low as eight seconds.                                 <p><strong>COLUMBIA, Md.</strong>—LTN managed its 1 millionth live feed earlier in May when it delivered a soccer game between Arsenal de Sarandí and Gimnasia La Plata in Argentina’s Liga Profesional de Fútbol via its proprietary multicast-enabled global IP network. </p><p>The May 8 milestone joins other live feeds that have included use of the LTN Network for primary transmission, testing and monitoring of high value programming.                                 <p><strong>SANTA CLARA, Calif.</strong>—New research is highlighting the importance of interactive live video for Gen Z consumers. More than half of respondents (51%) to a survey commissioned by Agora agreed they would be more likely to engage with a company or brand that uses interactive live videos and experiences to connect with audiences. Thirty-five percent were neutral and just 14% disagreed.</p><p>The study, which surveyed over 1,500 Gen Z consumers, examines how Gen Z consumers are engaging with brands that use interactive live video through their own platforms or via third-party apps, like TikTok, Twitch and Instagram. </p><p>Interactive live video includes live-streaming video where the audience can react with chat or emojis, and streamer(s) can interact with their audiences in real-time, the researchers noted.  </p><p>When it comes to watching live televised events – such as concerts, sports or award shows – 53% of Gen Z agreed they would prefer watching with interactive video features so they can engage with friends and other viewers with similar interests during the event. Thirteen percent disagreed and 34% were neutral.</p><p>The survey also highlighted some challenges to delivering interactive experiences with live video. </p><p>Bad internet connection (56%) and video quality (54%) are the most recognized challenges Gen Z consumers reported with mobile app-based live video experiences. Forty percent saw glitches, bugs and crashing as a challenge, as well as phone hardware (36%) and data usage costs (30%).</p><p>"Gen Z consumers want brands to embrace the technology they use everyday – including interactive live video and streaming," said Tony Zhao, Co-founder and CEO of Agora.                                 <p>Think of the major sporting events such as the Summer and Winter Games, the European and global football tournaments, Tour de France, or Ironman. Picture political events such as the G7 conferences, elections, inaugurations, or monumental historic events like the funerals of world leader Nelson Mandela and the Royal Wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.</p><p>What do these events all have in common? They are live and often bring together vast crowds of spectators and broadcasters in a relatively small space, all vying for network coverage. Indeed, when natural disasters such as tsunamis or floods strike, or in remote locations ravaged by war, there is likely to be limited connectivity.</p><p>During these events, broadcasters rely solely on their field crews to capture and deliver the highest quality of live content from these overcrowded or remote locations, sometimes against all odds. Their success depends on the ability of the field crew and their central production support to remain in constant, precisely-timed synchronization. But because the field crews are not in the broadcast studio, they don’t have access to all the tools, technology and resources the broadcast facility team offers.</p><p>Field broadcast crews are expected to deliver professional quality content that compliments the studio broadcast, but the on-location talent and camera operators can be disconnected from what&apos;s happening on the live program feed. This is a major issue, as they need to know what the shot looks like when they are on air in order to make real-time adjustments as necessary. It&apos;s often difficult to feed anything more than the IFB audio comms back to the field crew without a significant degree of latency—so this becomes an area for improvement.</p><p>This lack of real-time feedback causes many daily challenges for field production crews. Technology that simplifies return video and teleprompting is therefore crucial to modern-day field broadcasting. To create precisely-timed and captivating live content in the field, the studio production and remote teams need to be in sync, whether that be for talent cueing, production and confidence monitoring or accessing a teleprompter. Technology that creates a two-way dialogue and allows teams to access production information, simultaneously, with low latency, becomes essential.</p><p>How exactly does this help? For starters, graphical overlays can ruin a shot if for example, the graphics cover the talent or the background imagery contained in the live playout. A camera operator who doesn’t know what the graphics look like in the playout feed can’t adjust a shot to accommodate for that. When multiple cameras are involved with multiple viewpoints, it becomes even more complex: If a camera operator sees something unfolding in a sports event for example, they can&apos;t check if other operators are aware of the event and are providing alternative viewpoints of the action.</p><p>In a high-latency environment, teleprompter feeds are often sent as a one-way static feed that can&apos;t be adjusted by the studio, leaving field reporters with limited information and having to listen to audio instructions from the MCR when they should be focused on their on-air presence. This is another case where technology that provides dynamic and low-latency feedback is crucial.</p><h2 id="confident-in-communicating">CONFIDENT IN COMMUNICATING</h2><p>Bidirectional communication also benefits from extremely low latency. Without it, field producers have little information about what their field crew is doing during a live broadcast. This drastically changes the quality of the live feed. Enabling field production monitoring helps crews view current playout and anticipate live reporting from field talent.</p><p>For multiple camera productions, such as live sport events, the MCR team can see which cameras are on air and provide more real-time instruction to the camera operators in the field, adding video to the traditional audio feed. For crews that create their own overlays in the field—storm chasers for example, where graphic overlays are generated in the van— return video means they can supervise their own real-time output, allowing them to adjust the graphical overlays and help the field camera operator to adjust their shot as well.</p><p>For field camera operators, a low-latency environment gives them the confidence to dynamically adjust their camera framing based on what they see on-air; thus taking into account the graphic overlays and split screens showing various interacting reporters. It empowers them to deliver the most accurately framed shot they can possibly achieve during a live playout. This is particularly relevant for weather updates, where broadcasters want to ensure that shots include not only the on-screen talent, but what is happening behind them such as a tornado or a hurricane. In this situation, it would be unfortunate for a graphic to cover the very thing the audience has tuned in to see!</p><p>Low latency also makes near real-time visual talent cueing and teleprompter feeds a reality. Visual cueing offers real-time visual feedback of how they look on-air: Are their clothes straight, do they need to look more engaged, are they standing in the right place? It also lets them see their counterpart in the studio, or their counterparts in other remote locations, so they can have a genuine interaction with their colleagues during significant live events. When researchers and script writers send updates to the teleprompter feeds in near real-time, low latency is really critical. This allows the on-screen talent to read updated text as it flows, ensuring the audience is receiving the most up to date information.</p><p>In conclusion, to create precisely-timed and captivating live content in the field, central production and remote crews need to be in sync. Whether that be for talent cueing, production and confidence monitoring or accessing a teleprompter, extremely low-latency is essential to achieving this.</p><p>Dejero&apos;s CuePoint creates a two-way dialogue and allows teams to access production information simultaneously, with low latency.                                 <p><strong>Cypress, CA, October 21, 2019 –</strong> With its live <a href="https://vimeo.com/295819713">WALLCAST® simulcasts</a> and concert auditorium surrounded by an immersive projection system, the Miami-based <a href="https://www.nws.edu/">New World Symphony</a> (NWS) features unprecedented integration of technology into its educational, rehearsal, and performance spaces. The New World Symphony prepares graduates of top music schools for leadership roles in orchestras and ensembles around the world. It combines teaching and technical innovation in a way that brings classical music into the 21 century and makes the music accessible to everyone.</p><p>When the leaders of NWS were looking to upgrade the already top-of-the-line audio and video infrastructure within the New World Center, their Frank Gehry-designed campus three years ago, they were set on a single-link 12G infrastructure as the backbone for the overall upgrade. They met with representatives from the Miami office of FOR-A to discuss FOR-A’s range of 12G 4K/UHD products.</p><p>“We determined early on that our specific needs would be best served by designing our new 4K/UHD upgrade project around a single-cable 12G infrastructure,” explained Clyde Scott, Director of Video Production, New World Symphony. “Most options were quad-link and 4K IP, but FOR-A was the only manufacturer to make a single-link 12G switcher large enough for our purposes. We demoed the switcher and were impressed with its capabilities and ease of use.”</p><p>After that, FOR-A’s Director of Latin Region Sales, Mario Rodriguez and Product Specialist Bob Peterson worked closely with NWS to identify several other key pieces of equipment in the company’s suite of 12G products that would work well in the new installation, including: a large 12G router, production servers, and terminal gear.</p><p>After a highly competitive review, NWS went all in with <a href="https://www.for-a.com/" data-original-url="http://www.for-a.com/">FOR-A</a>, purchasing: a 4K/UHD <a href="https://www.for-a.com/products/professional/switcher_p.html">production switcher</a>, two routing switchers, 19 signal processors, integrated control software, a multi-viewer, four 12G/SDI servers, two <a href="https://www.for-a.com/products/classx/">12G graphics systems</a>, and nine modular universal system frames.</p><p>Among the FOR-A products selected is the recently introduced 3 M/E HANABI HVS-6000 <a href="https://www.for-a.com/products/hvs6000/">12G-SDI production switcher</a>Offering 12G-SDI capability on all inputs and outputs, the 3 M/E HANABI HVS-6000 uses a single cable link. Video signals are processed throughout as a single image. The HVS-6000 is a 12 RU switcher, with a maximum of 80 inputs/32 outputs or 64 inputs/48 outputs. It also offers frame synchronization, frame buffer, 3D DVE, and 4 keyers per M/E with DVE function + 4 DSKs. The switcher has an optional board-mounting SFP connector that supports an IP interface.</p><p>In addition to the HANABI main switcher panel, NWS is integrating a smaller 12-button HVS-2120ROU switcher panel into a remote control room for use with the main electronics for simultaneous use of the HANABI resources in multiple locations.</p><p>“We’re thrilled to support the New World Symphony in its incredible mission to enrich the Miami community with its classical music offerings and the organization’s progressive approach to the use of technology for education and performance,” said Rodriguez of FOR-A. “Everything at the New World Center is first class. We’re confident that our equipment will more than meet their expectations, and we look forward to providing New World Symphony with our latest technology for many years to come.”</p><p>NWS presents approximately 70 performances each year, many of which include immersive projections and 12 of which are presented as live simulcasts on the 7,000 square foot exterior projection façade of its New World Center building (WALLCAST® Concerts). Inside, the concert auditorium also features a large complement of theatrical lighting, ten robotic 4K cameras and a full broadcast-style control booth, top-of-the-line audio recording and sound reinforcement equipment. Already incorporated into several TVU products, AI is at the center of TVU’s story-centric workflow, which automates content distribution and allows broadcasters to customize – and therefore better monetize – live and archived media assets.</p><p>Customers across the world already rely on TVU’s mature AI solutions to accelerate news production and distribution. CNN Newsource, for example, provides an IP-based worldwide network of affiliates with access to breaking news, trending stories, and archival video content. When ingested through the TVU MediaMind Appliance, its live feeds are enhanced with real-time metadata generated by AI-based voice and facial recognition technologies.</p><p>As a result, CNN affiliates can find the live content they need in seconds by searching person of interest, geographic location, or other details in the metadata. With easier access to more appropriate content, broadcasters enjoy improved productivity and significant time savings.</p><p>Today’s consumers have a wide variety of platforms for consuming content and can choose to see a story on a smartphone, website, or TV. However, broadcast production is historically programmatic rather than story-centric. In the story-centric workflow, all media assets are shared, with content collected in a central location that allows any production group within a station to produce it the way they want for their viewers. This mass content customization for an audience of one is driven by Media 4.0.</p><p>TVU MediaMind can automate the content distribution process for specific platforms, from traditional broadcast to social media sites, for even more efficiency. The TVU CAS (Contribution Automation Solution), which streamlines the capture and automatic metadata tagging of live video content, integrates with major MAM platforms including AP ENPS, Dalet, and Primestream.</p><p>A context-based AI solution is also used effectively in TVU Transcriber, a real-time, speech-to-text transcription service. TVU Transcriber can embed text into a video stream for closed or open captioning, as well as output a file for auditing purposes. While the caption information is important for compliance, the data provides very accurate and detailed metadata, which also improves the ability to search assets.</p><p>The TVU MediaMind user interface, which keep benefitting from regular upgrades, offers improved facial recognition accuracy and management, as well as a new Microsoft celebrity face database of more than one million celebrities. Users can also add or delete faces, plus search the database using a photo. The MediaMind servers are professional video hardware decoders designed for the centralized viewing, control and distribution of live video content. Within G-Link, one server acts as the transmitter/encoder and the other as the receiver/decoder. The servers support a range of input and output source types and remain securely connected regardless of the distance between them, making them ultra-reliable and deployable wherever necessary throughout the world.</p><p>The G-Link “transmitter” server takes incoming transmissions from any TVU Networks’ transmission device, as well as SDI video input, or external IP video and sends footage to the receiving server, which then outputs in SDI and IP formats in high resolution.
