                                <p><strong>MONT-SAINT-GUIBERT, Belgium</strong>—High Frame Rate (HFR) capabilities have been added to the intoPIX TicoXS JPEG XS-capable encoders and decoders, the company said today.</p><p>With HFR support, use of a lightweight TicoXS IP-core for high-speed encoding and decoding is possible. Depending on the selected IP core, 480fps is achievable with 4K and 1920fps can be achieved with HD—both in monochrome or 4:2:2 color sampling with one encoder, the company said.</p><p>The IP-cores are also not limited to usual broadcast formats for encoding. They can be used for other aspect ratios, including 9:16, it said.</p><p>With slow motion workflows and replay systems, often the high-speed stream is separated into multiple streams, which are sent in parallel (as phases). For example, an HDTV 180fps stream is sent as 3 x 3G-SDI (HDTV 60fps) streams to the replay server, said intoPIX.</p><p>At the system level and using JPEG XS compression, it is easy to improve the high-speed workflow by simply sending a compressed video essence that has the same bandwidth as an uncompressed stream of 60fps but that is capturing 600fps with just a compression ratio of 10:1. It not only simplifies the IP bandwidth, it also simplifies the synchronization between these phases, timestamps, the storage and the replay server architecture, it said.</p><p>“This intoPIX release is of interest to those who want to create new Slow-Mo or workflows using high-speed cameras and sensors. The bandwidth efficiency of JPEG XS used in conjunction with SMPTE 2110-22 IP protocol makes it easy to build smarter systems”, said François-Pierre Clouet, product application specialist at intoPIX.</p><p>The intoPIX JPEG XS-capable IP-cores enable preservation of lossless image quality with low complexity, low power and zero latency.                                 <p><strong>MONT-SAINT-GUILBERT, France</strong>—Net Insight has announced a partnership with intoPIX, the leading  provider of innovative compression technology, to develop cutting-edge JPEG XS compliant solutions. </p><p>Currently, intoPIX  TICO-XS is fully compliant with the new JPEG XS standard and delivers pristine image quality and imperceptible  latency within a highly portable software application framework. Net Insight offers JPEG XS standard compliant  applications within its Cloud and IP solution portfolio, the companies said. </p><p>They also said that Nimbra JPEG XS applications are available now and are rolling out to support the delivery of some of the world’s biggest live sporting events. Net Insight’s Cloud and IP media platform combines the power of zero-compromise video compression with its industry-leading, open-standard media delivery technology.  </p><p>The JPEG XS content production codec is a so-called lightweight image coding system that processes video at the microsecond level with line-based latency. Based on real-world testing and compression grades in the range of 4:1 to 12:1, Net Insight’s JPEG XS applications can deliver lossless quality video while reducing typical network resource consumption by 90%, it said. As JPEG XS is designed to scale, it fully supports the ability to natively process UHD-4K and UHD-8K content. JPEG XS may be used wherever uncompressed video is currently used, including live and distributed  production, AV over IP, Virtual and Augmented Realities (VR, AR) and eSports. </p><p>The media industry has embraced remote working and the enabling technologies. By leveraging JPEG XS, users can further reduce our resource utilization and the number of processing steps, the companies said. </p><p>Software-based processing enables content editing and production workflows to eliminate the need to jump back and forth between  different uncompressed interface standards and different codec formats. This breakthrough in video workflow  processing accelerates the transition to high-quality distributed content creation and eliminates the need to  accept heavily compressed and artefact filled workflows as the compromise for moving to distributed production, the companies said. </p><p>By integrating JPEG XS into its Cloud and IP media platform, Net Insight adds yet another processing option for  content producers and service providers to harness. The same application acceleration platform offers virtualized  processing across IP, SDI, and mixed format environments. Customers can reuse the same acceleration hardware  to perform both media and network processing. The application list includes the IP Media Trust Boundary, lossless Ethernet switching, IP WAN aggregation, MPEG-4, JPEG 2000, and JPEG XS.                                 <p><strong>MONT-SAINT-GUIBERT, Belgium</strong>—Compression solutions developer intoPIX today released new, extra small JPEG XS IP-cores for FPGAs and ASICS that use less memory and fewer logic resources.</p><p>The new TICO-XS IP-cores are well-suited for any AV system requiring support for many HD or 4K video streams within the same chip as well as for those looking to implement solutions based on smaller and less expensive FPGAs for HD and 4K, the company said.</p><p>They remain fully compliant with the recently published VSF TR07 and TR08 requirements, it said.</p><p>"We are really proud of these new cores, saving up to 30% of resources with some configurations.                                 <p><strong>ERLANGEN, Germany & MONT-SAINT-GUIBERT, Belgium</strong>—Fraunhofer IIS and intoPIX have launched a joint licensing program for JPEG XS-based software and hardware solutions.</p><p>JPEG XS is expected to be used within studio environments and broadcast systems to help increase bandwidth requirements as video is transported over local, wide-area or wireless networks.</p><p>The near zero latency codec has been designed to transfer any audiovisual content over IP-based workflows, including 4K, 8K and beyond.</p><p>According to the organizations, the integration of JPEG XS eliminates the need for “jumping back and forth between different interfaces and compression technologies by allowing seamless video streaming over IP-based workflows”. For the broadcast industry, the rollout and integration of the codec into professional studio environments and broadcast systems will “reshape content creation and live production for years to come.”</p><p>Three different licensing models will be available: licensing for cloud-based or any type of on-demand or time-billed professional services; licensing for any type of professional equipment; and licensing for use in consumer devices, like TV, tablets or smartphones.</p>

                                <p><strong>MONT-SAINT-GUIBERT, Belgium—</strong>intoPIX has announced the launch of the JPEG XS Plugin for Adobe Premiere. This video editing and live streaming plugin is designed to speed up the pre- and post-production process in the JPEG XS format.</p><p>With the JPEG XS Plugin, users can review HD, 4K or 8K JPEG XS MXF files by displaying a sub-resolution, which reduces the bandwidth utilization and computational load during editing or playback. With the plugin, users can switch instantly between lower and fuller resolutions.</p><p>The new plugin is embedded with the FastTICO-XS SDK and enables super-fast encoding and decoding, support of all resolutions from HD, 4K to 8K, supports a range of pixel formats, features MXF wrapping and audio support, per intoPIX. It also can operate using a normal Intel or AMD processor.</p><p>It also provides access to the standardized JPEX XS format, which allows video editors to access features like visually lossless compression, multiple encoding/decoding cycles, low latency and low complexity.                                 <p><strong>MONT-SAINIT-GUIBERT, Belgium—</strong>intoPIX announced it has begun shipping a full stack of TICO-RAW IP-cores and software libraries that reduce RAW bandwidth and storage requirements to one-tenth what’s needed for regular RAW with low complexity.</p><p>The release covers all RAW format requirements, including the most popular CFA Bayer patterns, bit depths from 8 bits to 16 bits, resolutions from 2 Mpixels to 160 Mpixels, even at high frame rates, the company said.</p><p>The TICO-RAW IP-cores are available for ASIC design and FPGAs on Intel and Xylinx FPGA platforms. Features include adjustable compression rates from 2:1 to 16:1 and selectable constant bitrate (CBR) or capped variable bitrate (VBR), which enables lossless quality for video applications and mathematically lossless for machine vision and analytics, the company said.</p><p>Low complexity was a design goal of TICO-RAW. RAW encoder and decoder cores are symmetrical, use minimal logic and internal memory and no external DDR, the company said.</p><p>A fixed line-based latency reduces processing time to one-tenth of a millisecond in real-time applications, it said. </p><p>intoPIX FastTICO-RAW software development kits are available for x86-64 Intel and AMD CPUs (v2.0) and Nvidia GPUs (v1.2.5). These SDKs include high-speed (de)coding, high frame rate support and low latency.                                 <p><strong>MONT-SAINT-GUIBERT, Belgium—</strong>Compression solutions provider intoPIX has released its 8K TICO-XS encoder and decoder IP Cores. </p><p>“8K seems out of reach and requires very high throughput bandwidth, unreasonably larger memory buffers, high-end cables or 100GbE network interfaces,” says Justine Hecq, product owner of the TICO-XS IP-cores. “Our new cores enable manufacturers to manage and transport seamlessly 8K on COTS infrastructure.”</p><p>The new IP-cores make it unnecessary to compromise on quality using lower frame rate, irreversible data-loss technics with heavy processing and additional delays, the company said.</p><p>The cores support the JPEG XS ISO standard and can be used with mid-range FPGA families from Intel and Xilinx or on ASICs with low gate counts, said intoPIX.</p><p>The cores offer:</p><ul><li>visually lossless quality as defined in the JPEG XS standard;</li><li>support for the complete UHDTV2 specification; </li><li>imperceptible encoding/decoding delay of less than 1 millisecond; </li><li>low memory use with the light line buffers handled in internal RAM; </li><li>embedded two-level downscaler in the decoder enabling HD and 4K resolutions to be extracted from the compressed 8K stream without the need for additional processing; and  </li><li>manageable streams down to 2.5Gb or 10Gb Ethernet</li></ul><p>Latency throughout the workflow is imperceptible with the cores’ maximum of 32-line delay end-to-end. Artifact-free 8K quality is achieved with a compression ratio of 16:1, it said.</p><p>The cores are so small that manufacturers can already have an FPGA where the 8K cores will fit, and they will not require memory controllers or external DDR, the company said. </p><p>The 8K cores cover various needs and uses cases offering support for 8192x4320, 60fps or 120fps, 4:4:4, 4:2:2 and monochrome, it said.</p><p>With CPU and GPU implementations, the new 8K IP-Cores are shipping now.</p><p>More information is available on the company’s <a href="https://www.intopix.com/8k-solutions" target="_blank"><u>website</u></a>.</p>

                                <p><strong>MONT-SAINT-GUIBERT, Belgium—</strong>Media Links is including JPEG-XS compression in its MDP3020 IP media gateway, intoPIX announced this week.</p><p>“Media Links brings deep engineering, system integration and wide-area-network connectivity expertise to deliver a new IP media experience with the world’s best low-latency visually lossless lightweight codec,” said Jean-Baptiste Lorent, director marketing and sales at intoPIX. </p><p>JPEG-XS, which can deliver high-quality compression ratios of up to 10:1, is well-suited for the edge of IP networks where bandwidth typically is limited and transport of uncompressed video is not possible.</p><p>JPEG-XS (ISO/IEC 21122) provides visually lossless quality with sub-millisecond (<1 video frame) delay.                                 <p>LAS VEGAS—Compression, image processing and security specialist intoPIX will introduce the JPEG-XS standard with a demo of its TICO-XS FPGA and ASIC IP-cores at CES 2019, Jan. 8-11, in Las Vegas.</p><p>The company, which will also unveil CPU and GPU software development kits for the standard, co-developed JPEG XS based on intoPIX’s TICO RDD35 codec. It foresees TICO-XS as being an important enabler for development of video devices because it solves problems facing CE manufacturers, such as how to manage more and better pixels, realize cost and power savings, simplify connectivity and preserve quality with no latency.</p><p>For 4K and 8K, JPEG XS can carry video over existing bandwidth with lossless quality and imperceptible latency, the company said.                                 <p><strong>CAMARILLO, CALIF.—</strong>Video compression technology provider intoPIX is prepared to demonstrate the interoperability of its Tico lightweight compression system to transport UHD over next-generation UHDTV hybrid SDI/IP infrastructures at SMPTE 2015. The demonstration will feature technology from companies like Semtech, Xilinix, TV Logic and BES.</p><figure class="van-image-figure pull-" data-bordeaux-image-check ><div class='image-full-width-wrapper'><div class='image-widthsetter' ><p class="vanilla-image-block" style="padding-top:56.25%;"><img id="nvBA9NsBJL8cAffc2Aumik" name="" alt="" src="https://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/nvBA9NsBJL8cAffc2Aumik.jpg" mos="https://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/nvBA9NsBJL8cAffc2Aumik.jpg" align="" fullscreen="" width="" height="" attribution="" endorsement="" class="pull-"></p></div></div></figure><p>Semtech’s 12Gb/s UHD-SDI interface technology, including the GS12141 cable equalizer and the GS12181 cable driver, will be featured in the demonstration in conjunction with intoPIX’s Tico compression technology. The demo will also include FPGA IP cores that support Tico compression and SMPTE ST2022-6 encapsulation from Xilinix, a 55-inch 12Gb/s UHD-SDI UHDTV monitor by TV Logic, and a 12Gb/s UHD-SDI patch field from BES.</p><p>Features of the Tico system when applied to SDI and IP include light compression, bringing visually lossless quality up to 4:1; SDI encapsulation, which allows 12G-SDI signals to be mapped onto a single 3G-SDI stream using Tico with 4:1 compression; and RTP mapping, which can transport UHD over IP as an independent RTP stream without SDI encapsulation.</p><p>SMPTE 2015 is currently underway in Los Angeles.
